We did it. We’ve raised a remarkable human and today we moved him to college.
I know this is what we raised him for and he is chasing his dreams but goodness it has been the hardest week of my life. Knowing that life will never be the same.... well, I’m trying to adjust to that, not sure how though.
But let me just brag on this kid for a bit. He’s caring, he’s kind. He has the most tender heart and he never complained having to spend his his last few weeks at home, packing it up. (And no, we didn’t plan it, the sale of the house was completely out of the blue)
I know God has big things for this kid. From a medical standpoint he should never be here. Also from a medical standpoint, he and I should not have survived his birth.
Noah, you have made us the proudest parents in the world. I’m so excited for your future, but I left a piece of my heart today with you on that campus. Protect it, ok.
And don’t get annoyed when I FaceTime you, ok? 😉
Oh and PS. When we took these last pictures I thought I gotten all the tears out. Nope. Lost it again when I hugged him at the car and I’m bawling while typing this. Help me mama’s who have sent kiddos to college! Whew. I could literally eat the whole godiva store right now. And where the Jiff? I could eat a whole jar right now.

Today I invited photographers into my cottage and we literally styled all day today in an intimate setting. Yesterday was a full day of marketing and tomorrow it’s all about bridal beauty shots. It’s bittersweet because it will be last time I teach in my cottage forever. Forgive me girls if I’m emotional.
Moving to Nashville almost 7 years ago and opening my cottage to hundreds of photographers was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my business. The laughter, the tears, the deep conversations and the businesses changed makes me so incredibly happy and proud. I know I have made a difference in someone’s life and business and that surpasses any accolades I’ve earned. This is what I was made to do.
But, learning at the cottage doesn’t technically end because last year, I recorded the last full cottage workshop and now YOU can come to cottage from the comfort of your own home.
I have poured everything into this course. Nothing is held back and whether you are new in business or need a restart, this class is for you.
The doors close on Wednesday until fall of next year and when it does open again it will be more expensive. You cannot afford to wait that long. You need this now. There is no fluff. The link is in bio, click it and I will see you inside the class.
I promise you will thank me later.
Questions? I’m here online all evening! Comment and I will answer.
Let’s be honest. I’m exhausted. It’s been quite the week with the launch, packing, getting Noah ready for college, life, editing, emails, lots of DM’s, coaching calls, prep for this weekends intensives, and I’m sure there’s more but I have no more brain capacity to even remember.
I’ve felt like just crawling in a hole and disappearing many times and I’ve cried because it all just seemed to be too much. And you know, you can have lots of friends but feel all alone at the same time.
But then I get these messages... “I can’t believe you are taking the time to talk to me” “thank you for making me feel seen” “you are special Julie, most people on your level don’t care about newbies like me” and comments like this puts things all in perspective.
You see, I didn’t get this when I was starting out. I asked a question and was told to “google it”. And because of that, I’m here today.
We all deserve to feel like a “somebody” and I have made that my life’s goal to do just that.
You are special friend. No matter what stage of your life or what level of success. So, pass it on. People will never forget how you made them feel.

Booking clients is not a fairytale. I’ve done it for 10 years and I’ve supported my whole family. (In case you don’t know my husband works with me so we have no other income)
There’s this thing I do in my marketing on Instagram specifically for BRIDES that I feel like people don’t believe that it works...it’s happening in my stories, it’s happening on my posts, and it’s some of the biggest reasons brides book me over other photographers.
I call it my breadcrumb move. I’m revealing exactly what it is. I dig deep into the WHY it works so you can make it work for you and get a leg up on your competition.
It’s in part 2 of my training series that’s ONLY live until the 14th! Definitely go check it out, it’s the biggest sneak peek I’ve ever given into my paid course, booking without fear!
Comment below when you’ve watched and tell me what your favorite takeaway is!
Oh and PS. Guess who’s going to Disney soon?

Have you found your secret sauce? What makes you tick? What brings you joy? But also, where is your weakness. We don’t like to talk about that one.
For me, my secret sauce is connection. Helping people find their genius and exposing them to the world and making them feel seen. I’m a cheerleader, rallying behind my fellow creatives is my favorite. I also have mad intuition skills, spend some time with me and I will have you all figured out.
But my downside, I have issues saying no. I think I can help EVERYONE but truth is, not everyone wants to be helped. I’m too trusting and try to give people the benefit of the doubt and yep, that has resulted in being taking advantage of and a lot of fake friends who just used me to get noticed.
I’ve done a lot of self exploring over the past few months. I would be lying if I told you that this year has been rainbows and roses because the truth is that it’s been hard. Business is doing great, but physically, emotionally and even spiritually at times has been the hardest for me these past 6 months.
But guess what? The struggles do not define me. I choose to focus on my secret sauce and give back to you.
So click that link in bio and for the next few days that training is all FREE to you. I view you as my therapy. Fair enough, right?

I’ve been able to shoot 3 proposals in France over the last 3 months. 😱 One in Monet’s Gardens, one at Versailles and of course one at the Eiffel Tower.
Being hired to shoot these is one of my most favorite things in the world. It’s especially exciting when they hire me to shoot their wedding as well!
Excited to welcome @shewanelizabeth and James into the JP family! As we shoot their wedding next fall!

So... I’ve been keeping a secret from you guys... My foundational photography education experience (previously called the workshop experience) just got a face lift. 8 modules where I lay out exactly how to build a photography business you love.
Watch me shoot a real couple and a model. I’ve also included 6 brand new bonuses where I dig into how to get in with the best planners, how to get referrals from every member of the wedding party, the crucial differences between $2500 brides and 5k - 10k brides, how to get brides to market for you, and so much more.
Today in part 3 of my video series you’ll have the chance to hear from three real women whose lives have totally changed from this experience! Go to the link in my bio to get access!
Ok guys, this is a long one so bare with me.
I know all things happen for a reason. I also know that I can be stubborn and sometimes God just has to spell things out for me. You might think I'm cray but hear me out.
I've been on the struggle bus with all the changes in my life and business. I laughed when people say "mid-life crisis" but I'm here and it's real.
I always said that if something in my life no longer brings me joy, it would be time to either stop doing it or make changes. I realized late last year that shooting 40 weddings a year no longer brought me joy. I still loved shooting weddings, but NOT 40 of them. So this year, I limited myself to 10 and it's been amazing. Next year, I'm only doing 5. Big Change.
I also realized that I want to educate others but I want to do it on my terms and that is by connecting. I felt like I couldn't connect when I was doing a workshop a month and teaching the same thing over and over. So I recorded it and now you can join with me online, on your schedule (PS, click that link in bio and find out all about it and get some free training too) and now, I'm freed up to run a mastermind, host group online coaching and even take you with me on retreats around the world. This = JOY.
Last week, I decided I wanted a hobby, so I ordered myself all sorts of watercolor supplies and I'm going to teach myself how to paint. Again = Joy.
Then last night my friend Carrie with @type_a_society sent me a moodboard for a shoot and I cried. I knew there was a missing link in my business and I suddenly found it that it was color. I am colorful. I am happy and bubbly but I'm also calm and intimate because l like to connect. It's like a watercolor painting, color that's softened...this is so me. And ya'll, she named my shoot "watercolor clouds". Random? Nope, I don't think so.
And to add to it, a friend sent me this little graphic that said to name the first 3 words you see, mine were CONNECTION, POWER and CHANGE. (see in stories) still not random.
I hate change but it’s life. I’m going to stop fighting it.
Who’s coming along with me? *Out of space credit in comments

Pricing...one of the most stressful parts of booking clients for soft, creative hearts. It’s one of the most-asked questions...and honestly one of the funnest parts about the booking process for me (especially when I was in the booking range of $5k-$10k)!
I have a unique system I use to price so that when your clients line up your packages with your competitor’s...yours gives them exactly what they want. It’s simple, it’s easy, it’s fun...and it gets them to book bigger packages. And book them with YOU.
I break it down as part of my 3 days series that starts tomorrow! Sign up through the link in my profile or go to bit.ly/showmejulie to make sure you don’t miss it!
