As many of you know, I reached some pretty big personal accomplishments in 2018. While putting my business aside and focusing on a healthier lifestyle change; I was able to compete in a physique competition and crush some extreme goals! I have since, created new goals, with fresh ideas. 💡💡💡 One of my goals for 2019 was to rebrand my business and it’s in FULL AFFECT! I am so excited with what this 2019 season is going to offer my small business. 💯🎉
In addition to rebranding, I’m also looking to expand. I LOVE TRAVELING! Like, I want to throw my family in an RV and TRAVEL.THE.WORLD! So if you know anyone looking for a destination (near or far) photographer 🙋🏻♀️📸 •
What are you goals? Have you reached them this year and are already making new ones? How can I help you reach your goals? •

So we had our first final inspection last Friday for the house.
You may be saying, "First final? Doesn't the word 'final' imply the last? As in, no more?" To which I'll just give a hearty chuckle.
We knew going in that there would probably be little things we had missed here and there, and that turned out to be true. So now we take our new little to do list and scurry about trying to get this switched, and that caulked, and this extraneous thing added 😾, and then we'll cross all the fingers and toes that we only need a second final inspection and not a third or fourth. 🤞
Who out there is a creator? Whoever you are, I KNOW you’ll be familiar with a creative block. *cue thunder in the distance* What do you do to overcome that?
Do you ever feel like you get started on this flow of producing work that everybody likes, but it isn’t necessarily creative or exploratory? Maybe you love what you’re doing, but you’re not necessarily satisfied. Maybe you want to be more festive but find inspiration rare and difficult to grasp.
I’ve been feeling this way with my photography. I’ve felt like I stress myself out a little bit about creating something new, yet balancing what I know people want. I also run low on ideas.
Honestly, I don’t know how this photo popped out. I somehow got the idea, thinking it’d probably be stupid. I do a lot of things wondering if they’ll be stupid. (and friends, some things ARE stupid and I just don’t share them.)
((P.S. there IS a type of pic related to this one that EVERY single photographer has ever done that I’ve held off from doing, but I think I’m gonna do it next time I have the opportunity. Any idea what it is??))
BUT the main point of my post is to ask you guys what your method of attacking the creative block is. Do you plan out specific things beforehand that you want to try? Do you have a specific app or community you to go for pics? Do you look at examples of good stuff? Lmk in a comment!

While we continue Black History Month and Int’l Women’s Day, let’s remember Bessie Coleman: the first African America Female Pilot.
Seeing as there were no aeronautical academies that would teach negro women, Coleman earned her license in France. She then returned to the States, building her career as an airshow pilot. Coleman died during a test flight in 1926, she died doing what she loved. Bessie Coleman was once quoted saying, “the air is the only place free from prejudice.”

We’re gearing up for the first official weekend of spring! Who’s got some exciting plans? This gorgeous capture by @lucstadnik might inspire a road trip or two.

Millie Lee is the biggest cutie!! She’s also the cover of @theauthenticwomanseries Vol. 4! I love working with these people and seeing their passion grow and ignite fearlessness.
Go get Vol. 4!! One of my favorite morning reads.
My face exactly when the weather starts to warm up. I’m in Charlotte for a couple days, and it’s spring here. Blooms, pollen and all. Raise your hand if you’re slightly ready to get back outside🙋🏼♀️

Have you ever had a dream but didn’t know where to start? Instead of just going for it, you brainstorm and think until you realize months have gone by and nothing has actually been accomplished? Well, that’s where I’ve been lately. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After weeks of actual planning, I’ve FINALLY restructured my mentoring program. There are online and in-person options ranging from editing to shooting. Photography has been such a blessing for me. Running this business has given me both flexibility and fulfillment. I want those opportunities for you guys, and I’ve tried to mold an experience that will give you all of the things that have taken me years to figure out on my own. Enough said (for now). Double tap if you know what I mean about being paralyzed with ideas. Link to more info on mentoring in my profile👉🏻 (photo credit goes to @samlindseymartinphoto)

It’s been FOREVER since I’ve done a #fridayintroduction , and I don’t know about you, but with this week being so crazy I could use a little more llama in my life 🦙😂
So for those who haven’t been following me for very long, my name is Jessica 👋🏼 and Shea is actually my middle name. It was my great great grandfather’s last name 💕👴🏼💕
I’m one of those “extroverted introverts” who can be outgoing around those I’m comfortable with, but I definitely still struggle being myself around new people. I’m a total goof though, once you get to know me, and have too many different laughs to count 😂 I regularly quote Step Brothers, Parks and Rec, and The Office among many others.
I’ve had my business almost 9 years now, but on top of that, I’ve been Dollar Tree’s corporate photographer for the past 5 years. I shoot literally everything...product for store signage internationally, our website, ads, catalogs, corporate events, headshots, and more often than not they use my photos on Instagram and Facebook 😊 Working there has really honed my studio photography experience and given me the confidence to photograph Executives and even our CEO. This is why I have an entire highlight dedicated to that part of my photo-life.
I have this theory that because I’m a lefty, I think and do things differently than most would. But I’m ambidextrous...so while I write left handed, I throw right handed, but golf lefty, and bowl righty. It’s a mixed bag 🤷🏼♀️
Funny, though, that while you need both hands to hold a DSLR, you couldn’t actually take a photo without your right hand 🤔 the right index finger gets all the credit!
