I had the opportunity to pay my respects to one of my childhood heroes today: Sultan Muhammad Akbar, better known in the West as #AkbarTheGreat. Though he was himself a Muslim, during his reign over the #MughalEmpire, he kept both a court and a personal life replete with scholars, teachers, and even family members from different faiths. His efforts led him to establish what became known as the "Din-i-Illahi," or the "Religion of God," a movement in which the unifying truths of all faiths could be found.
Though my vision of him has been romanticized, and his reign was not without controversy, from a young age, I have believed that Akbar's example serves a reminder of the best virtues of #Islam in particular and human spirituality in general. Getting to see his resting place at #Sikandra, and to say a prayer and leave a memento was a dream come true for me.
Pictures of the tomb, which is haunting in its beautiful austerity, are not allowed (unsurprisingly), but if you look closely, you can see the tomb of Akbar the Great in the middle of this picture, down a long, quiet corridor. I didn't realize its presence in this picture until after I had taken it.
“Brandeis was founded in 1948, at a time when discrimination and quotas still restricted access to higher education. Its impetus was a powerful idea: the only non-sectarian institution founded by the Jewish community, Brandeis would be open to all, embracing the pluralism of American society, and with a commitment to making a positive impact on the world. Brandeis offers a distinctive model: the personal attention and flexibility of a liberal arts college with the depth and opportunity of a research institution. Brandeis students come from all parts of the nation and the world and from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. According to the U.S. News (2018), #Brandeis University is ranked #34 in National Universities.”
Between going to work sick, struggling with keeping it together at work being sick, coming home sick to getting sicker, and finally being able to sleep to waking up to work on my class final assignment due tomorrow 5pm, I missed #tbt so here is my #fbf of me for my Senior high school yearbook picture. I recently had my 20 years H.S reunion which I couldn't make it, can you guess why?... Yes, because I was sick. LOL! JK!😂 Anyways, enjoy seeing a very different Angy...🙈 look at the almost non existent eyebrows, black eyeliner, and dark lip liner. Oh ignore the short hair and California sunkissed highlights 😁
A 17 year old, she was an overachiever, not a dreamer but a goal setter & goal achiever, always authentic, ass kicker, loyal, passionate, no boundaries type of chic with all the might and tools to conquer the world. Then life happened...and I met Alan a few months after 🙈🙉🙊 my life changed for ever. After years yearning for the what if, I would never want to erase or replace the life that I have lived and the person that I have become.

Practicing some good, old fashioned escapism because the new class of neuro grad students started today which means I'm officially a fifth year and no I'm still not anywhere near graduating and no I still don't know what I'm doing with my life and abkxkzldkzkajxksxkkzkjdjxg better to think about how I'll be in Paris in a month 🙃 #wanderlust#latergram#gradschool

As my summer comes to a close I am feeling so reflective and thankful to have worked an incredible job with lovely people this summer, getting to start my assistantship in less than a week, and starting grad school next month 🙏🏻 it’s been a long road, but I am so appreciative to get these amazing opportunities. More importantly, I am so amazed by everyone I have met throughout my various endeavors 💛 What I have learned about myself, about those I’ve met, and life experiences far surprises any knowledge I have gained from a textbook and I am so grateful for that. There are many cups of coffee in my future but I am so ready 🤓🤓
And just like that, I finished my first year of chiropractic school 👩🏻⚕️
Shout out to those around me that kept me grounded during some of my hardest most stressful days. Ya all know who you are, thank you for keeping your girl sane 🌹
