See You Yesterday is a small film about two teenagers from New York who discover time travel and use there new found technology to go back in time to stop a murder. There efforts trigger a series of unexpected consequences and kicks off a race against time. There are a plethora of time travel movies with near similar arcs but See you Yesterday offers a refreshing addition with a new perspective. The science fiction is blended with contemporary american social commentary, drama and some light humour, making for a charming film.
The young actors Eden Duncan Smith and Dante Crichlow at the centre of the film were a true delight and really sold the on screen chemistry as two best friends living in an urban neighbourhood. I hope to see much more from these young thespians in the future. The film was produced by Spike Lee and is Writer/Director Stefon Bristol’s first full length feature film which itself is a build out of his short film of the same name. From the story telling style you can tell Stefon has a lot of respect for and influenced by Mr. Lee (there is even the classic spike lee dolly shot in this movie). Stefon went further to show respect for the genre with a short poignant scene early on in the movie which true time travel movie fans will love. If you are looking for something new to watch on Netflix check out See You Yesterday. Rated A. #seeyouyesterday#reviewer#movie#cinema#netflix#netflixmovies#cinephile#film
