Day 1: Symphony of Lights
We were just in time for the nightly light show but couldn't get anywhere near the waterfront for unobstructed photos. Best to get there earlier (show starts at 8pm) as there can be a crowd.
I feel that this is an iconic thing to see but not a must as it does get quite repetitive even for 10 min.
It was quite the set behind the scenes to get this shot of @karl_shakur. Looking like a movie set straight from Hollywood, there was everything from directors, producers, smoke machines, with an entire crew running the show, just for this one shot! And then there was me off to the side lol😂 I was lucky enough to be along for the ride and watch it all unfold, and be able to step in and snag a few shots as well! There is a frequently asked dish in Crystal Jade’s menu. Would you like to take a guess? The answer is Chilled Pork Jelly because of customers will often ask us the pronunciation of “肴” and what is “xiaoruo”. Once upon a time, there was a couple in Zhenjiang. The husband, when marinating pork knuckles, mistakenly took nitrates, which were used for making firecrackers, as table salt and added them to the pork knuckles, and yet the meat turned out pink in color and fresh in look. Since “肴” and “硝” are homophones in the Zhenjiang dialect and “硝肉” didn’t sound good, the dish is named “肴肉” instead! Although we do not use nitrates or nitrites to marinate the pork terrine, Crystal Jade’s Chilled Pork Jelly still remains aromatic, delectable, savory and tender!
