🌱 Tabula rasa = a clean slate. It’s a new year and one that will be filled with many new blooms. 🌱 Pictured —> 72 cell seed trays filled with soil and ready and waiting for seeds. Earlier this week we planted seeds for almost 300 new plants - all “cool flowers”. These are hardy annuals that can handle colder weather and can be planted outside earlier than tender annuals which we will plant outside around the last frost date - here that’s May 7th. 🌱 These cool flowers will get planted out in late March and should bloom earlier in the season. Many of these are also perennials or self seed which means they will come back year after year. 🌱 In this batch of cool flowers we planted multiple varieties of rudbeckia, columbine and snapdragons.
Hi all! I’ve been quiet for the last couple weeks. Don’t worry, I’m still here! I’m just deep in the jungle of the 2019 Floret Workshop. Class started on January 4th. And I am loving every minute of it. I’m so grateful to have been chosen as a scholarship winner. It’s a wealth of information, from the conceptual to the technical. But I ain’t gonna lie. This is no pretty walk in the park. What a dance it is to find quality time for class while also trying to be a decent dad. In any given moment, there is a high likelihood (like 200%) that 1 of my 3 boys will need something. This one is hungry, that one needs a diaper change, and the other one just dumped a full cup of milk on the couch. And all three of them are “bored.” It’s one thing to dig in dirt with the rugrats at large. It’s a whole other ballgame to try reading, researching, or just thinking - with a chorus of chatter, demands, and sibling battle cries around you...... And yet, I wouldn’t want to give up either of these worlds. I want them both. I need them both. Being a full-time dad and a flower farmer is possible. Just not easy.
This picture has it all. Those nervous happy smiles when you realize, this is it and you see all the eyes looking at you. The cool dad with the shades escorting his daughter to her new life. Stunning bride in her fabulous lace dress with those elegant teardrop earrings. And the gorgeous, slightly cascading bouquet with ruffly peonies, ranunculus and garden roses complimenting the brides feminine appearance.
This wedding was one to remember and we can’t wait for more of these ❤️
I wanted to quickly hop in here and thank everyone who's sent me encouraging messages related to our IVF journey. I know it's weird that I'm being so open and honest about our infertility issues, but that’s just who I am and there is also a reason for it.
When I started this long and hard road, I knew no one who had gone through this and I felt extremely lonely. I quickly came to understand that the only way for me to feel better and stay strong was to start talking about it. Now, I've been getting messages from so many people who've shared their story with me, both success and not that successful stories, and I'm forever grateful for that. All these stories have helped me tremendously knowing that I am not alone with this, and I hope that me sharing my story will give others the courage to do the same, or at least know that they are not alone.
Life is never just dancing on top of the clouds. We all go through the good and bad but how we handle the bad, is everyone's personal choice. In my opinion, I think that it's never good to keep things inside as it will hurt so much more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Whatever your coping method to pain is, know that you are not out there on your own. There are always others in similar situations. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So thank you for being supportive and understanding. I love you all so very much!
Closed today/every Monday because we need me time/friend time/sister time/puppy time. Here’s an awesome shot by @anthonyring.raw we couldn’t get “real” models for the shoot but it ended up being more fun this way anyhow. Happy Labor Day!
