I’ve been slacking off on my side gig sitting in model home bathtubs lately, but I was showing a house in South Scottsdale and drove by a tiny infill new build site by Taylor Morrison at College and Continental (just north of the 202 and west of Scottsdale road), so I stopped in. It’s in a weird area that seems like Scottsdale, so when you stop in the bar on the corner and order a drink you say to the bartender, “Wait… shouldn’t that cost $5 more?” And he’s like, “Don’t worry, sweetie, you’re only in Tempe.” And you nod, oh right.
This neighborhood is called Shadow Rock, and it’s all sold out (18 homes) except for the model. They are asking $539k for it and it’s a 2368 sqft 4 bed/3.5 bath two story on a tiny lot. That said, the sales gal did tell me that Taylor Morrison will have a slightly larger development just a block away from there (slightly east and north) that will have models and start selling in May 2019, which I thought was super interesting. She said that area is REAL Scottsdale, not Scottsdale-ish, so the pricing will reflect it. I’m guessing they’ll be base-priced in the $450-550k range. These aren’t your large lot, no HOA, ranch-style homes you’re used to seeing in South Scottsdale, but they are new, and the location is fantastic, so I think they’ll be popular.
I really loved the white, grey, black, and yellow color palate that ran throughout the house. I thought the floorplan was a little crunched up. The kitchen was nice. The backsplashes were pretty. I did not understand why the vanity in the guest bath needed fancy lighting under the cabs… so you can see the spiders under there better? I died for the master shower. I unlocked a window so I can climb up the side of the house in the middle of the night and visit that master shower and sing it love poems, that’s how much I liked it. We’re going steady. I asked and she said yes. Never leave me, pretty master shower.
I never would of thought that after getting through our first year of marriage, we would be building a brand new house. Everything just fell into place. Looking forward to this next exciting chapter of our life. It's now official. We are home owners! #TaylorMorrison#lovedoinglifewithyou#Eastmarklife 😍
