After a weekend hiatus, our series on a recent biocultural workshop in Japan continues - Walking in rhythm with our surroundings - by @vivimellegard “Walking, ideally, is a state in which the mind, the body, and the world are aligned, as though they were three characters finally in conversation together, three notes suddenly making a chord.” Rebecca Solnit’s description fits with our group’s walking workshop methodology whereby we walk through urban and rural landscapes and co-opt our environment in amplifying our creativity and putting us all, no matter where we come from, in the same place at the same time. By sharing an experience, the members of the group who hail from China, Finland, Hawaii, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Africa and Sweden have a common reference point for conversations and exchanges of ideas.

‘Chaya-District’ literally translates to ‘Teahouse District’ and that’s exactly what it’s all about. Higashi Chaya District is where the people with deep pockets are entertained by Geisha through the means of music and dancing. The neighbourhood simply looks so artistic, that it is acting as food to my eyes, the numerous count of women in their are just icing on the cake. ===================================== TM200.
