@heathergudenkauf writes intricate, emotional suspense, and her latest, BEFORE SHE WAS FOUND, is hands down her best yet. Told through journals, police interviews, and a stellar narrative, this perfectly terrifying story is ripped from the headlines (there are parallels with the Slenderman case) and layered with Gudenkauf’s flair for small towns and intimate family portrayals. Heartbreaking. Devious. Intelligent. Misleading. Too familiar for comfort. I couldn’t put it down. Have you read Heather before? If not, add her to your list immediately! What are you reading?

This brilliant essay collection from the sharp-witted @americanhousewife (author of one of my all-time favorite novels EATING THE CHESHIRE CAT) is a perfect look at how ladies can navigate this modern age with a dose of southern graciousness thrown in. Plus, learn the real meaning of Bless Your Heart. One of my favorite books of 2018, it’s out this week! Be sure to check out her podcast after you pick up a copy.

A few weeks ago I ate the best gluten-free pizza I have ever tasted at a fantastic restaurant nestled under the Brooklyn Bridge called Love & Dough. It was so good, we had it delivered the next day too. I am so jealous of you Brooklynites! What a great place.

You know you’re a crime fiction author when you get excited to be standing in front of a police station. Walking back from a cocktail party in Brooklyn a few weeks ago, I stumbled upon the 84th precinct and the Special Victims Squad. Bravo to all the hard work they do.
