What was the first horror movie you ever watched? πŸ‘»
.
Mine was actually one of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, but I don’t really count this as I was made to watch it against my will. My older brothers thought it was entertaining to put me through this trauma which would then make me swear off horror movies until my early 20s!! At this point I decided I wanted to get into horror, so I watched the Scream movies as a gateway as they’re quite tame (more slashers really!) πŸ”ͺ
.
And it worked! Because I quickly reached a point where I could watch any horror movie. I remember bigging myself up to watch The Shining in particular because so often it is alluded to as being one of the SCARIEST movies of all time.......
.
It did not phase me in the slightest πŸ˜‚ I was incredibly disappointed in that regard. I felt like β€œthat’s it? πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈβ€ But now I appreciate the movie in terms of how iconic it is and the stunning cinematography.
.
As for the book... I found it to be much more creepy πŸ‘» and I’m finally getting around to posting the @foliosociety edition that Matthew got me for Christmas πŸ–€

.
Also you may have seen in my stories that I’m having issues with commenting... I’m hoping normality will soon resume as interacting on here is so important to me πŸ˜”

@jobis89 I agree! The cover was awesome, the film not so much. I had a lot of years of build up so it could probably never live up to it anyway πŸ˜‚

  • @beeplane72 16 March, 2019

  • @too_fond_of_books 17 March, 2019

I think my first horror movie was Friday the 13th. It scared the crap out of me. I think I was 7 or 8 yrs old when I saw it.

  • @bundledwithbooks 18 March, 2019

My first horror movie was The Exorcist when I was about 5 or 6. I begged my mom and she let me watch it. Within a year or so I watched The Shining. I was quite afraid for many years following but eventually became fascinated with the horror genre.

  • @foliosociety 22 hours ago

Do you keep the edition in the freezer?? 😊

  • @jobis89 21 hours ago

@foliosociety when it gets too scary I’ll just hide it under the sofa - at least it doesn’t get damp that way πŸ˜†

  • @foliosociety 20 hours ago

    @jobis89 Good idea!
