Who’s your favourite author from a non-English speaking country? ✨

I am trying to read more books in Dutch, my native language. When books are originally written in English I do prefer to read them in English, and in general I tend to buy a lot of English books since they are much cheaper. But I love Dutch as a language and I really want to start reading Dutch literature. The book pictured is Tonio. It is written by a Dutch author, A.F.Th van der Heijden. It is about the death of his son and I can’t wait to start reading it. I have heard so many good things about it. Hopefully this book will be the start of reading a lot more Dutch books ✨

  • @michellecsinno 14 March, 2019

That’s a really good question to reflect on! I actually don’t think I have an answer for it.

  • @romyreads 14 March, 2019

@michellecsinno it’s a hard question for me as well! But I think it would be really good if we all read more diverse and one way to do that is to read books written by authors from different countries! 💫

  • @anareadin 14 March, 2019

@romyreads Phobos is my fav ! Its kind of a fantasy thriller about speed dating on Mars 😂

  • @michellecsinno 14 March, 2019

@romyreads absolutely! Thank you for bringing it up, it’s making me think about the next few books I choose to read.

Hah, definitely Haruki Murakami for me 📚❤️ On a side note though, I wish there was contemporary literature in my native language. Never knew that feeling of reading a nice fiction book in the native language 😪
