With each sunset I am thankful for another day. But it’s not always easy.
Today is Mental Health Awareness day and I (Kallsy) want to bring awareness to it here. Right now. Why? Because it’s important to be real with each other and because we don’t talk about it enough. My girl @ladygaga sums it up like this: “At present, every nation in the world is a ‘developing country’ when it comes to mental health.” SO. TRUE. Y’ALL. By exact definition today is a day for global mental health education, awareness, and advocacy against social stigma.
Stay with me on this, here are some earth shattering facts about mental health from the National Institute of Mental Health and the World Health Organization:
• 1 in 5 adults living in the United States have a mental condition.
•In 2016, there were an estimated 44.7 million adults (18 or older) in the U.S. with a mental health condition.
• Among the 44.7 million adults with a mental health condition, 19.2 million received treatment through inpatient/outpatient counseling and/or by use prescription medication.
• In 2016, suicide was the 10th leading cause of death in the United States claiming that the lives of nearly 45,000. But there are close to 800,000 suicides globally each year.
•Suicide is now the second leading cause of death globally among those age 15-29.
• 19.1% of U.S. adults are struggling with an anxiety disorder currently and an estimated 31.1% of adults have experienced an anxiety disorder at some time in their lives.
There are many other statistics and types of mental health conditions that I could go into further, but it won’t fit in this caption. For now, I’ll leave with this. Having a mental health issue isn’t something one can “just snap out of.” Having a mental health issue doesn’t mean you’re “crazy.” Having a mental health issue CAN feel crippling at times, BUT you can find comfort and support.
Regardless of where you are right now. This is for sure...
You. Are. Not. Alone. YOU MATTER. It’s time to end the silence behind mental health and start supporting each other. ❤️
First of all, that twirl you guys: nailed it! Second, THANK YOU for sharing this, and so insightfully too. It’s only by talking about it that we shine light and decrease the stigma around the conditions that permeate the lives of so many around us. ✨✨

Hi it’s Lance here, I love the original and personal feeling of your feed! I’m from Cuecard, and we’re 3 backpackers that are building an online community that want to make a positive difference in this world. We are doing this through our social good movement @Cuecardcompany where we collect the publics questions for different groups of humans within society (for example homeless people) and then we present those questions directly to those groups and capture and share their answers with the world through social media. Our aim is to build bridges of understanding across the world through these questions and answers. Check out our page and follow back to join the journey the community 😃
