Here’s a picture of me carrying all my diabetes supplies! Just kidding (or am I?)
Today is World Diabetes Day, celebrated on Edward Banting’s birthday who co-discovered insulin in the 1920s. Think about that. If I have been born a century ago I would have died at age seventeen. •
I owe my life to creative scientists, to technology, to my peers. Because of innovation, both medical & social, I am able to live a basically normal life & I have the tools to pursue extraordinary experiences like backpacking the north coast of Vancouver Island with @connectedinmotion. •
I don’t know if T1D made me this way, but I thrive off of adversity & get high on testing my limits & I’ve found I’m capable of more than I could’ve ever dreamed. Type One looks like me. #thisistypeone •

They sing about riches, and they sing about love.
They sing about heaven, and the good things above.
When the robins start singin at the breakin of day.
I think of my old home and can’t help but say..
There’s a beautiful island surrounded by sea.
There’s an old country homestead waiting for me.
Where the people are happy, and the children are free.
On a beautiful island, surrounded by sea.

Low fog and a hint of blue smoke haze make for some nice mountain views
