Back to body weight movement. The past few weeks I've changed my practice around a bit. Swimming, body weight stuff, handstands and lifting to support all of this. My lifting right now is mainly structural balance so that I will maintain the basic strength I need and so that I can have some fun with these moves. Lifting can be your whole practice, for a few years it was my bread and butter. But if you love yoga or dance or these types of moves lifting can provide support. Plus it makes these movements feel different! Handstand after a few weeks of OH press, low trap raises, rotator exercises is a whole new handstand.

🤷🏾♀️ How is it rated and measured?
🤷🏾♀️ Why is it important to know?
It is great 👍 to have some fats in your body but not all fats are created equal. Lots of fats accumulated in or around certain areas in the body can be unhealthy and cause serious damage and diseases.
Get your note 📝 pads and write these facts down:
✍🏾 Visceral fat is body fat stored within and around vital organs in the abdominal cavity.
✍🏾Belly fat IS NOT necessarily visceral fat (see attached image) .
✍🏾Visceral fat is also called ‘active fat’ because it can actively increase the risk of serious health problems.
✍🏾Belly fat can easily be seen from the outside (check those tyres around your waist now 😛😜😂) while visceral fat is not visible by just looking at your belly). Note 📝 the difference‼️
✍🏾Belly fat, the one you see is called SUBCUTANEOUS FAT. This is fat stored just under your skin, found in your arms and legs. .
✍🏾The one way to find out if you have visceral fat is with a CT or MRI scan which are expensive and time-consuming methods. Alternatively, you can use a tape to tell if you are at risk of having visceral fat. .
✍🏾If you MEASURE WAIST SIZE and it measures 35 inches or more and you are a woman, you may be at risk for health issues caused by visceral fat.
✍🏾Don’t freak out just yet! 10% of your body fat is visceral fat! Calculate your body fat and take 10% to estimate your visceral fat. .
✍🏾Visceral fat is evaluated on a scale of 1-59 when measured with a fat analyzer. Healthy levels are under 13‼️If you measure 13-59, you need to swap to a healthy lifestyle ASAP‼️
✍🏾High levels of visceral fat is a risk factor for insulin riesistance, type 2 diabetes, heart attacks, breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.
✍🏾You can reduce or get rid of visceral fat through a healthy, well-balanced nutrient-dense diet and regular exercise.

Visceral is fat stored on the [email protected] around your vital organs. It may not be visceral but can be deadly. It is preventable with the right nutrition and exercise.

#TRANSIT REPORT 🌗🌙✨ #Sun has now shifted out of its own sign and into #sidereal Virgo. Sadly we won't see this powerful transit again for another year! Mercury followed the Sun into Virgo and is now exalted. Mercury loves the sign of Virgo and the mental body will feel full during this short 2.5 week transit. Mercury is in Virgo until October 6th and Sun is here until October 17th. ⚡️ Sun and Mercury will be in tight conjunction for the duration of Mercury's pass through Virgo. This can agitate the mind, overheat it and cause exhaustion. Mind however might feel very clear and focused at the same time. Watch for mental burnout and overwhelm. Keep thoughts simple and try doing less. You'll get more accomplished! ⚡️ Sun in Virgo creates precision, focus and clarity. However the shadow side can be excess criticism and judgement- towards self and others. Seek new approaches to healing and gather new resources and insights. The light is shining on conflicts and challenges right now. Find resources for healing the pain. Get out of the critic and notice where self criticism is getting in your way. ⚡️ Are you moving towards solutions or staying stuck in the battle? ⚡️
As Sun and Mercury move through Virgo, Saturn and Ketu also give their gaze. This adds challenge and potential chaos to the mind and body. Grief and trauma is being stirred and confronted. This can agitate both mind and body as well. ⚡️Use this time to contemplate your needs and deepen your inner awareness. Gather new healing support and be diligent with inner and outer challenges. Meditate, spend time in nature, eat more greens and take care of your pets and animal companions. ⚡️September 19th to 22nd will require extra care and caution as Mars, Moon and Ketu form an exact conjunction in Capricorn. Burn out is possible and emotions are vulnerable, heated and potentially aggressive. Take care to not overheat. Go as slow as possible and cultivate steadiness. Less is more right now. 🙏🏽🌗⚡️

Por Skype. Desde tu lugar en el mundo. En tu hora sándwich, o comiéndote un 🥪sandwich en tu sillón preferido, o dándole un sandwich a tu hijo mientras vos tomás la clase ahí al lado, sin tener que buscar a alguien que te lo cuide cada vez que tenés english. 🏙Vivir y trabajar en Nueva Córdoba me enseñó que amo la vida en la ciudad, y también a mi WiFi que me permite estar en contacto con el mundo🌎 sin salir de mi casa. Esta dualidad de estar en el centro de todo y al mismo tiempo no depender de la presencia física para conectar con otros entornos es una de las características más representativas de nuestro loco siglo 21. Yo voto por aprovecharla. 💯Simplificar las tareas cotidianas te cambia la vida, honestly. Si puedo conectarme 3min antes de la clase y aprovechar cada segundo; si como alumna tengo la opción de tener clase mientras cocino; si está helado pero ni me doy cuenta porque no tengo que salir a enfrentar el viento con la nariz; si puedo aprovechar la hora de almuerzo desde la oficina… why not? Las pantallas ya están 🤳super integradas con nuestra vida cotidiana. La única diferencia es que esta videollamada es en inglés. That’s it.
Como profe, entiendo que el tiempo de avanzar a paso de hombre en las grandes avenidas, evitar las calles ⛔cortadas por obras o manifestaciones, buscar estacionamiento, llegar tarde, o no poder asistir por viaje✈ (entre otros factores) ya no son obstáculos para tomar una clase de inglés. Subite a la era de las TICs. 📲Animate a probar!
Did you know that Body Weight and Size are NOT accurate indicators of health.
For example, according to the BMI (body mass index which is your weight divided by your height) I’m considered “over weight!” I’m a good 175-180 lbs and about 40 lbs outside my BMI. The only reason I know this is because of my annual physical. Other than that, I don’t see a point in weighing myself ever. If I were to lose weight in to get back into my BMI I would FEEL very unhealthy! Been there, might even write a book about it one day.
I’m not saying we should all give up the greens and stop moving! NOT AT ALL! I eat healthy most of the time & move regularly. I’m saying that you CAN live a very healthy lifestyle and still have fat on your body. When some ppl switch to intuitively eating (from low calorie, restrictive eating) they might even lose weight naturally without intentionally pursuing weight loss. Some stay the same. Some gain weight. The goal is to find bodily acceptance at the “weight” that’s the healthiest for YOU! :
Words like “over weight,” “obese,” get tossed around way too much and it’s no ones fault. Our culture has ingrained in us to fear “fat.” How many of us have feared or still do fear “gaining weight.” It’s time we alter our language and perspectives around bodies especially if you are going by the bullshit BMI! :
Hesitant or skeptical? I would have been too 5 years ago but reading these 2 books have really changed the way I view health especially in accordance to weight. I highly recommend you read them both and work towards “health” and healthy behaviours as opposed to trying to endlessly change and/or fix the beautiful body you’re in now! 💜
