Between a man surviving a mountain lion attack, me almost killing myself on the icy trails this morning, and then finding this- the trails are really pushing my insecurities right now! Thanks for the run and pic @shannaburnette!

Happy Valentine’s Day to the man who believed in me before I believed in myself. I love you @adamgoucher!❤️

When I first started having national success, I wondered who it lifted besides myself. In 2000 I wrote about my wanting to know how my success helped others in my journal. Now, 19 years later, I understand that my success did have a purpose- to elevate others. This is what purpose looks like. Read my blog at link in profile. #RepresentTheRun

In honor of the Millrose Games coming up this weekend, my #tbt is when I competed there in 2009 and had Jonti waiting for me.
I meet Jonti at the starting line of the NYC Marathon just months before. The @nyrr had 5 children from the 5 boroughs stand with us for introductions. My child was Jonti. Then @nyrr invited him to the Millrose Games. It made me a little extra nervous to see Jonti in the middle of the track when I stepped on it at Madison Square Garden to run the mile, but I was determined to run well for him. After I won he was allowed on the track and we took a victory lap together. It is one of my favorite memories as a professional track and field athlete. ❤️
Good luck to everyone competing this weekend!

Participating in sports, particularly running, have made me who I am today.
They taught me how to work hard, be vulnerable, be a good teammate, and be a better friend. How to win with humility and how to lose with grace. How to prioritize and focus. How to trust others, but also how to trust myself. Sports taught me to stand up for what I believe in, how to take a compliment and how to handle criticism. They taught me how to fail and how to get back up again. But the most important thing they taught me was to believe in myself. #ngwsd
Give girls the chance to play sports, and watch them change the world.

Thank you @juliebmorrill for teaching Colt and friends tips on staying safe. They learned a lot, felt empowered, and had a blast!
