Easter brunch and dinner! Here are the four baked goods I made for today, plus the very delicious salad I made that I can’t wait to eat all week. White chocolate cheesecake with strawberries on top (an old Bon Appetit recipe, it’s online); a Swedish pastry wreath for brunch (I was trying to replicate the wreaths from the sadly closed Virginia Bakery in Berkeley; it wasn’t exactly the same but it was close); @bravetart’s cinnamon rolls, also for brunch, a huge hit; King Arthur Flour’s golden buttery buns; and a very springy salad. (There was also ham and potatoes etc at dinner, very tasty but I forgot to take pictures of it). Happy Easter, all!

I shrieked when I got these books in the mail! @sourcebookscasa thank you thank you for sending me these GORGEOUS editions of these L.M. Montgomery books because you knew I loved THE BLUE CASTLE. I love all of these so so much, and I’m so happy to have them!!!
Guess what? ROYAL HOLIDAY, my fourth book, comes out in October! Thanks to @reesesbookclubxhellosunshine for this fantastic picture — see the link to Hello Sunshine in my bio for details, an excerpt, and to preorder!

Just under the wire picture of me and my sis for #nationalsiblingday . This is old, we don’t take enough pictures together. Guess that will be one more thing this big sister forces her little sister to do this year!

I read a slew of great books on vacation! The three pictured, and then three I read on my Kindle: PLAYING HOUSE, by @ruby.lang; BEACH READ by @emilyhenrywrites; and DAISY JONES AND THE SIX, by @tjenkinsreid. I don’t know what kind of fairy dust got sprinkled on me before I left for vacation, but boy did I pick winners here — I recommend all of these books with my whole heart. Only one is out in the world yet, so do yourself a favor and go buy and read DAISY JONES immediately, if you haven’t already (I was transfixed the whole time! I cried at the end, I loved it so much, I cannot WAIT for the TV series) and then preorder the others so you get presents to yourself over the next year or so. (I also read the first half of an enormous Catherine the Great biography and it’s fantastic). I’ll say more about all of these in my newsletter and other places, but they all just made me so happy there are books like this and authors like these out there in the world and I get to read their work. If you’ve read and loved any of these books tell me your favorite parts, and tell me what else you’re reading now!

Yesterday I got to Maui and took approximately one thousand pictures and videos of the sunset from the beach and then went swimming in the ocean during the sunset and then took some more pictures and it was very excellent.

Today when we got to the beach, this turtle was just laying there on the sand, unmoving. Then he slowly turned and moved back to the water. I love him very much.

For dinner tonight I made a riff on the Winter Italian Chopped Salad @epicurious recently posted in stories, and it turned out so tasty. I added broccoli, subtracted celery and oranges, used romaine instead of iceberg, and made a more simple dressing, and it made me very happy. I’m glad I have extras of almost all of the ingredients; definitely making this again this week. (If you google the name of the recipe, it’ll come up!)

The great thing about doing an event with a friend for a big company is they have photographers around so there was someone to catch this moment when Danny and I were celebrating something wonderful. Thank you, wonderful photographer @slate hired whose name I didn’t catch, you’re the best! The second pic is a selfie but we also look great in that one, because we’re very cute.
