The lighting in my childhood bedroom is 🔥 but that’s not what I’m here to talk about. It’s time for one of Lauren’s Trans Rants™️. The subject? “Tranny chasers” versus trans attracted men.
Tranny chasers, or simply “chasers,” are men with an attraction to trans women that’s incredibly problematic and brings them great shame. They’ll slide into our DMs, send us dick pics, repeatedly leave inappropriate comments on our photos and lurk on Grindr and Tinder. They will never date a trans woman and are usually politically conservative. .
Trans-attracted men are the antithesis of chasers. They’re respectful and want to enter into a romantic relationship with a trans woman. They may exclusively date trans women or date both cis and trans women. They carry no shame about their attraction. They might identify as straight, bi or pan.
Unfortunately so many trans women have been traumatized by chasers that the two types of men are often conflated in our community. I conflated the two for a long time. And can you blame me? Even now I get chasers in my DMs saying “dump your fiancé” or ignoring the fact that he exists entirely. It’s wild.
TL;DR - finding love in the trans community is hard because cis men can be problematic and annoying. And there’s no solution other than learning the difference and trusting your instincts. Sorry sisters. 🤷♀️
Fun fact:one time a straight man asked me, ‘Why burlesque?’ and then said ‘As a straight man, I find the overt sexuality in burlesque unnecessary and uncomfortable.’ And so, I cried for several days and quit burlesque, because as you all know I care very deeply about what straight men think about me. 💋Photo by @fubarfoto for @lamaisonlust. Have you ever had a gourmet #pho 🧐 well I did and it looks kinda like this 😊
We are constantly evolving and changing, but one thing that never changes, is our sense of home. We move around and do work in other places, we wish for greener grass and that it wasn’t so cold outside, and the faces around us come and go, but our sense of home remains constant. All the people that support us, our families, our incredible clients, and all of our friends...are all part of our home. Our showroom and our work is an extension of our home, but it’s not something to be found in bricks and mortar, but is a place found within our intention and our hearts. And we are honoured to be able to share that place with you ❤️ #home#shaunfordandco#yyc#canada#calgary#tailoredenvironments#family
