So many feel lethargic, unmotivated or worn out in this hemisphere.
We are really not made to rocket straight through winter, ablaze with energy.
Look at nature. The ground and plants and animals are deep at rest. This is the natural way of things.
Spend some time with the long nights, the moon, solitude, the bare earth, stillness.
Be easier on yourself. (Victoria Erickson)
A beautiful Oriental White-Eye to brighten my day! (Not wild!) Been stuck in bed for two days in extreme back pain. Has been going on for years and finally convinced the doctor to get me in for an MRI. Looks like I’ll be out of commission from birding for a little while. Hopefully that means I’ll just have more time to draw birds instead!

NATUROPATHIC SKINCARE AND COLLAGEN INDUCTION THERAPY// ⠀
👩🏼⚕️As a naturopathic doctor, I always stress that we need to address skin concerns from the inside-out. However, when it comes to damage to the skin, namely from old acne lesions, sun damage, smoking, poor nutrition, and stress, it cannot easily be reversed once it’s there. That is why collagen induction therapy (CIT) or medical microneedling is so amazing. ⠀
The treatment causes a localized wound-healing response which induces the healing cascade and thus leads to the release of a number of different growth factors to the area for the healthy healing process to occur. Overtime, healthy collagen is produced naturally by the body as it heals. ⠀
The benefits: ⠀
🌞It softens scars and stretch marks⠀
🌞Brightens the skin⠀
🌞Minimizes deep and fine wrinkles⠀
If you’re a current patient @naturedoctors, you can book in a free 15-minute skin consultation with me to see if this treatment is right for you. If you are new to the clinic, please book an initial consult first.⠀
🙋Do you have questions about this therapy? Leave your questions below or shoot me a DM. I’ll be sure to answer them in a story highlight. ⠀
This is what inspires #frostyfacewpg and #smilewpg. Cold weather finally returns tomorrow to our gorgeous Winterpeg and I could not be happier. :)
As winter returns I am reminded how language, attitude, and approach are so important to how we perceive, or experience, our surroundings. With that in mind I thought I would try my hand at a recent meme with this photo. A critique in three parts. :)
1) The original @hbo#gameofthrones approach is ominous and a little depressing. While the messaging clearly works to promote the show I dislike the use of a beautiful season to push doom and gloom. Boooo. :)
3) The recent use of “winter is coming” in politics is just super weird and does not make sense on any level. It is so odd and cringe-worthy that it makes me smile... so I give it a high five for that at least. :)
3) My approach with this post, which is obviously and without a doubt the best use of “winter is coming “. Why is that you may ask? Celebrating winter because it is awesome? ... you bet! Clear messaging without metaphor?... yes sir! Spreading love, not fear?... you got that right sister! Plus digging deeper I can tell you that Chantelle, on the right, is one of the most organized people on the planet and achieves this by using more coloured pens than both my kids combined. Her agenda looks like a bouquet of flowers. So the style choice?... Nailed it! And that gorgeous smile from Soleil (could not have picked a better name), on the left? The epitome of what frosty face wpg is all about. Celebrating people in a winter city and loving the peg every day of the year?... yeee haw partner! :)
I love this photo. Thanks for sharing @chantelle_cotton. Have a wonderful Tuesday Winnipeg and stay frosty my friends. :)
