I now understand the Six of Crows hype 😍 The first book still isn’t a favorite, but Crooked Kingdom? Oh my! It had my complete attention from the first page. The constant double-crossing and complete genius of Kaz Brekker had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. And I must be completely loyal to Ravka, because the frequent comments about the country and its Grisha made me enjoy this book that much more. Speaking of Ravka, the character cameos from the Shadow and Bone trilogy literally made me squee 😆! I strive to keep my brief reviews spoiler free, so I’m struggling to keep from name-dropping here 😫😂.
I initially did not like Kaz, but I grew to really respect him in the end. My favorites remained the same throughout the duology – both Inej and Nina. Neither of them let their circumstances take away their strength or their kindness; their characters are just beautiful. I really hope we’ll have more of Nina’s story eventually. .
And I still stand by my original suggestion, even more now: read the Shadow and Bone trilogy first and then Six of Crows. I think you’ll understand the history and appreciate the cameos in SoC so much more.

Can you believe it?! It’s less than two weeks away until THE PRINCESS AND THE FANGIRL! Don’t forget to preorder! (The incentive is running through the first week of the preorder, too!) And please come visit at one of my tour stops!
It still feels surreal, honestly. You think that with each book it gets easier but honestly? It never does. The same apprehension comes crawling back out of the hole you banished it to after the last book, thinking it’ll never come back, but alas it DOES. I’m so happy and thankful for all the support this book has gotten, and I can’t wait for y’all to meet Imogen and Jess, and fall in love with Starfield 💜✨
Also, just to forewarn you, I’m going to be very obnoxious for the next week and a half until it’s out. So BE PREPARED.

“In my head, I saw myself zipping down the road, checking the map and matching it up with the mile markers I expected. One, two, three, four, five… I had a good idea of what lay ahead.
“But life put up a little detour in the form of one beautiful boy with a smile I couldn’t get enough of. That side road wound away, and I couldn’t see beyond the first turn.”
Katrina Crawford has a plan for herself, and the first step is getting the heck out of Highland, Iowa. Unfortunately, she still has one year left of high school before she can pursue her dreams of costume design at the college she’s set her heart on.
The problem with plans, though, is that life has its own ideas.
Ethan Clark is king of Rockford Community High School, and is so far out of her league it would be a fantastic joke if she could bring herself to tell it. A triple threat in music and the son of a Christian minister? Yeah, not even in Trina's dreams would he have a reason to speak to her. .
Ethan, however, seems to see things a little differently.
And he sees her differently, too.
Life certainly loves a detour, but once you step off the road, how do you get back on?
LOVE SONGS, DETOURS, ET CETERA— a stand-alone #yacontemporary#romance coming on April 15th, 2019. . #bookstagram#yabooks#yabookstagram#yaromance

A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh Mafi was gorgeous. It is 2002, a year after 9/11, and Shirin is a 16-year-old Muslim girl who wears a headscarf. Shirin has been battling Islamophobia her entire life, and has grown to accept that people are awful: as she moves from school to school, she rarely bothers to make friends, drowning her frustrations in music instead. But at this new school, Ocean seems to actually want to get to know her. As she spends her afternoons break-dancing with her brother and his friends, she starts to wonder if it’s too much of a risk to let somebody in.
Mafi’s writing makes this book: it is poetic and quick, funny and real. The characters were realistic and wonderful: protective Navid, sincere Ocean. It’s a dig into the cruel twists of high school and how awful people can be; it asks us how to confront a world that’s determined to turn on us at every turn. I recognized a piece of my teenage self in Shirin’s refusal to let down her guard. And Shirin has way, way more to deal with: the book portrays the insidious, dark, ugly Islamophobia that was firing up to blazing levels in 2002 and that is still so terrifyingly alive today. Mafi portrays Shirin’s darkest fears, her struggle to protect her own feelings, beside her unwillingness to back down and let prejudice win. I blazed through this book and was a little sad when it ended.

What kind of conflicts do you have in your story? One of the bigger ones is probably progress versus preservation, because part of my story focuses on old traditions maintained in a society. What other forms of large-scale conflict do you like to write?
✨Q: What would you call your pirate ship?
I would either call mine something scary enough to fool the ocean into thinking I wasn’t afraid, like Leviathan, or something really honest, like, “We’re all going to die”. 😂
I am SO HERE for all the Pirate books and I’m so excited to start Viper by @bex_hogan ! It releases in April and I’ll leave the synopsis below ☺️
Many thanks to @hachetteaus@dateabook for sending this one my way!
📖 synopsis: “He will make me a killer.
Or he will have me killed.
That is my destiny.
Seventeen-year-old Marianne is fated to one day become the Viper, defender of the Twelve Isles.
But the reigning Viper stands in her way. Corrupt and merciless, he prowls the seas in his warship, killing with impunity, leaving only pain and suffering in his wake.
He's the most dangerous man on the ocean . . . and he is Marianne's father.
She was born to protect the islands. But can she fight for them if it means losing her family, her home, the boy she loves - and perhaps even her life?
A brave heroine. An impossible dilemma. An epic new fantasy trilogy set on the high seas.”

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart 🏘 •
We Were Liars was the first book I read just before I really got into reading. I actually really liked it at the time and it’s very different to what I normally read. The ending was very sad and left me kind of speechless for a little while but overall it was a really quick read and enjoyable. •
I may be posting two pictures today because I’m going to participate in the @wizarding.letters giveaway challenge and I want my “sort-of theme” to be “sort-of” complete. Definitely go check out the challenge and participate! The more the merrier! •
QOTD: Do you own any signed books?
AOTD: Unfortunately no. Well actually I do but it’s a book that doesn’t sit on my shelf. I got White Ninja signed by Tiffany Hall at a school excursion when I was in like grade 5 so I guess it counts 🤷🏽♀️ •

QotD: What book gives or gave you spring vibes?
Hey everyone! It's finally Friday (🙌) and it was a very crazy day. There's potential for some good news next week, so fingers crossed and wish me luck! Anyways, ignore the messy hair, and let me tell about this book (This Lullaby) which was a delightful read from last year. It got an amazing writing, the meet cute cliches I love, and a great romance and character development. I really loved it, and it made Sarah Dessen a new favorite author to me. Also, I finished HoF last night and it was insane! I need to start QoS ASAP to make sure my babies will be okay (poor Dorian 😧). I hope you have an amazing weekend and make great reads. 🤗

Amei demais, e fica a recomendação. Espero que todos tenham um ótimo final de semana e façam boas leituras. 🤗

My Saturday plan is proceeding swimmingly:
Second cup of coffee? Check.
Cooked brekkie with bacon, eggs, and tomatoes? Check.
Scroll through various social media feeds? Check.
Read. Read. Read? Check.
Still in jammies? Well. I was until 11am so check.
📚outdoorsy character #allthebooksmarch19 ~ that would be Cal from The Rift.
📚Masquerade #fawkesfriday#storieswithstephmar19 ~ Mare from Red Queen is playing a very dangerous game pretending to be Silver.
📚set in a foreign country #marinbooks19 ~ does an imaginary country/kingdom count?
📚fields of green #flatlayfriday#booknerdsmar19 ~ I loooove flatlays!
📚who do you ship? #fantasyonfriday ~ Lorelai & Kol, Jude & Cardan, Meg & Cal, Mare & different Cal, haha (I mean, maybe, I’m not yet halfway through Red Queen, but I can spot the chemistry), and America & Maxon. Each of these relationships start and progress in different ways! ❤️

🔊 SOUND ON 🔊 .
THE INTERNET HAS COMPLIED
I now present to you the official, fabulous, beautious, wonderous #sandcastledreamsbook trailer in all of its glory (WITH SOUND).
I’m seriously so in love with this, guys, and I hope it makes you even more excited for the release of Sand Castle Dreams!
If you love this trailer as much as I do, would you consider sharing it in your story? My grand trailer reveal ended up being rather anticlimactic thanks to the internet + my impatience, and I’d like to try and make up for lost coverage!!
Anyway...once again...HAPPY FRIDAY!!
I can tell I was really missing my Urban fantasy. I started watching midnight Texas and I’m binging the show which I haven’t done in a while and then I started reading the next book in The hallows series and it felt like a warm cup of soup. Must have been time for a change. I had been reading so much fantasy lately and loving it but I just needed to shake things up.
What are your comfort reads?
What do you go back to when you need to reset?
“In her mind, every last Queen lies at the bottom of the sea, drowned by the Goddess the moment she was done with them.”✨
Happy almost Friday friends! Hope you’re having a wonderful week so far💜 What are you all currently reading today? I just finished a bunch of books these past few days and I haven’t started anything new yet! I was thinking about doing a reread of A Kingdom of Exiles by S B Nova, so I may continue with that but we shall see👀
Feliz casi viernes amigos!
