Day 21 Scariest thing in your WIP?
I can't judge which is the scariest, but there are a fair few gruesome scenes *ahem* Blood, guts and soul-lust.
Day 22 Is there a chase?
Oh yes, most definitely. This is YA 😉 Physical, emotional, life and death.
Day 23 As I write during naptimes, I daren't risk music 🤫
Day 24 March madness - any crazy characters. There are a few quirky characters, but no actually insane ones. Not in Book 1 anyway... You know those 'eureka' moments? I had one today.
I thought I'd listen to the soundtrack to Gone in 60 Seconds whilst I had the house to myself (Saw it on my husband's CD shelf and thought I'd give it a go), and these lyrics to The Cult's song Painted on my Heart just popped out at me. What a great #quote
I'm currently in the midst of plotting Book 2 and it's dark, my MCs are working through a lot of things plus the world's going to pot (putting it mildly) and these just words just fit Erica and what she going through so much and in so many ways.
It's the weekend of the Leipzig Book Fair and I'm so happy to have met so many great people😊 What about you - do you like book fairs?
Scootering around the stupors in Bagan just brilliant 💚

Author copies of The Forgotten Village have arrived! So exciting to hold an actual copy and very odd to see words I wrote in book form. My youngest loves the new building blocks @avon_books have kindly just sent us. 🤷♀️📚

Beyond the Third End (The Midgard Born Series Book 1)
by Juliet Boyd .📚
In a world where Norse gods are revered, the lives of Siri, her young brother, Mo, and Kyr, merge in an uncertain alliance. Siri isn’t sure about Kyr and his wolf, Fen. It takes time for her to see there is more to Kyr than she first thought.
They have one thing in common. They feel a pull to travel north. Siri and Mo’s father, before he died, told them this is what they should do. They meet others who seem to have the same compulsion - to travel north.
They face one danger after another, including natural disasters and mythical forces, until they reach where they are meant to be. .
The story had me intrigued from the very beginning. I loved the characters. Juliet Boyd has drawn each one so well.
I must say I didn’t guess the end of book one of this Midgard series. I picked up a few hints but it still surprised me. I loved it and can’t wait to start the second book. I actually bought the boxed set of book one and two together. So, I’m reading on.
I highly recommend this book if you love mythology, great characters, and an intriguing story.
Juliet Boyd has published other books, which you can find on Amazon. .📚📚📚 #ellenread #bekindandsmile 😊😊 #bookstagrammer #julietboydauthor#beyondthethirdend #writersofbookstagram #bookstagram #writersofinstagram #writerscommunity #authorsofinstagram #authorsofig #readersofinstagram
The writing retreat is taking a dark turn. I’d just edited this bit: ‘However many times I cleaned, the curled-up corpses of dead flies reappeared as though the cottage was sending out tiny kamikaze fighters to fend us off’ when all these dead fly wings floated down onto my keyboard 😳
Greetings, Word Weavers!
Next on our list of villain tropes in literature and film is the Anti-hero!
Never has the anti-hero been a stronger presence in mainstream media than right now!
Just like the heroes of classical antiquity, modern day anti-heroes were ushered into our hearts, each with tragic flaws that limit them from fully fledged protagonism.
Yes, I did just coin the word "protagonism." What? It works!
Whilst not a villain in the plot device sense, most of the time the anti-hero's biggest adversary is the one within themselves!
Was that too corny? Oh well, we'll run with it 😅
--- #qotd can you think of any significant anti-heroes? 🤔
I wanted to love this book, but it was a bit underwhelming. There was magic, quirky characters, multi-generational relationships, and a hint of mystery. I sped through it, enjoyed it, and was left wanting more. Perhaps I will perceive it differently if I reread it in future, but at this time I struggled to connect with the characters. They never fully came to life. What was the last book you read that you expected to love, but was only okay?
Opening up your notebook is like opening up all your thoughts, ideas and dreams that are happening in your head. And, in my case, spilling them out into the internet.
But that’s what I’ve just done. I’ve just filmed my notebooks and described how they’ve helped me on my writing and creativity journey. Take a look at my stories - where I’ve written more about it.
I never feel nervous or vulnerable when filming and editing these things...but now it’s out there I feel 😱. #tobravelyshare
My new video and this post has all been inspired by Sarra of @heartbreathingsblog who creates brilliant videos on how to fill and use your notebooks.
