88mm Flak Arromanches.
This is a Spanish Flak 88 and was one of the Flak guns that was send to Spain by Germany, the torch marks on the gun and the breach are made longtime after the war, because of Spanish law.
In this barn (replica built on the site of the original), no bigger than a single car garage, 100 British and French troops were locked inside by the German SS in May 1940. Stick grenades where then thrown inside, killing 80 of them instantly. The last 20 were largely saved by 2 British NCOs throwing themselves on top of the grenades. 5 were let out, blindfolded, and marched over to the tree (2nd pic) 100yrds away, where they were individually shot. Of the remaining 15, all but 6 died of their injuries within 48 hours. The 6 were treated in a German field hospital and taken to Prisoner of War camps. This is now known as the Wormhoudt massacre, and was one of the bloodiest of WW2. #War#WorldWar2#Massacre#WarMassacre#Wormhoudt#WormhoudtMassacre#BritishSoldier#FrenchSoldier#RIP
Le 21 juillet pour les belges c'est : la fête national, libération de la Belgique de l'Allemagne nazi par l' @usarmy, le lendemain du premier homme sur la lune et la première victoire du premier belge (Eddy Merckx) au @letourdefrance.
The place where it al began.. One of our members is on holiday in the U.S.A and visited Camp Toccoa in Georgia.
This camp was the training facility for the 101st Airborne. The hill on the picture is the hill also famous from the miniseries Band Of Brothers where the new recruits had to run 3 miles up and 3 miles down!
With history there's always a sense of arriving to the scene too late, missing the action so all you get to see are the remnants and debris we leave behind. In this case I arrived literally too late for this one.
The first photo is from google streetview in Oct 2011 and the second photo is from today. Sadly at some point in the last 8 years the pillbox on this site has been demolished down to the base, presumably by the local council who own these buildings when the last tenant moved out/passed away.
This is Royal Ordinance Factory Rotherwas which produced hundreds of thousands of shells and bombs during both World Wars and the building pictured is part of its guardhouse and defensive structures. It was later sold to the local council who must've let this happen to it.
Labour/concentration camp. 27000 prisoners, 8000 dead. Used for producing rockets for the Nazi regime. Eventually became a “factory” of Steyr/Daimler/Puch, economic giants in post WWII Europe. The tears still linger on

US Marines of the 3rd Marine Division take cover along the beach line shortly after landing on the island of Guam, July 21st, 1944.
On July 21st, 1944, a combined force of Marines and Army infantry landed along on 3 beaches dotted the Guam coast. The 3rd Marine Division landed under looming hills overlooking Agana and the surrounding area while the 77th Infantry Division and 1st Marine Provisional Brigade landed to the south of the Orote Peninsula. Their objective was to cut off the Orote Peninsula where the main airfield on the island was located. Additionally, the Peninsula held the liquor depot for the entire Marianas and the surrounding areas. On the 21st, both the 3rd Marine Division and the 1st Provisional Brigade landed under heavy fire and encountered stiff enemy resistance. The 1st Provisional Brigade landed directly under the Japanese artillery installations located in the hills above. During their approach to the beach and landing, they would loose over 20 fully loaded LVTs. Although the 1st Provisional Brigade was able to secure the beach, the lack of LVTs to bring reinforcements ashore prevented the 1st from being resupplied and reinforced until the next day. During July 22nd and the days following, the Americans on Guam would repel several Japanese counter Banzai attacks. The Japanese could be heard at night weeping and drinking, shortly before launching a Banzai attack. Although most were repelled with limited losses, one massive charge broke through a gap in the 3rd Division lines almost pushing them back to the sea. However, they were halted during a valiant action at a first aid station where even the wounded grabbed weapons and fought off the Japanese. After one week of heavy and costly fighting, much of the Orote Peninsula has been captured. After it’s capture, the rest of the island would be mostly secured with limited encountered Japanese resistance.
New video on YouTube were we take a look at the Sherman M4A1 E9 at Woensdrecht and the Battle of Woensdrecht.

The information sign says that this Sherman joined in on the fighting for Woensdrecht, but that's incorrect.
This Sherman M4A1 E9 is a postwar Dutch Sherman that was placed on a target range and was salvaged and restored in the 70's.
The E9 stands for the wide Vertical Volute Spring System (VVSS) this tank had, and it was fitted to stop the normal VVSS suspension from sinking into the ground.
The E9 or easy 9 was a second attempt after the E8 or easy 8 suspension to make the Sherman preform better on muddy terrain. ■ Subscribe to our YouTube channel for more Videos.

100th Jager and 295th Inf. Divisions prepare to move on the Dzerzhinsky Tractor and Barrikady Ordnance Factories, Northern Stalingrad, 1942
So to imagine none of these dieses could go back to Germany ever again.
