Someday the snow will be gone,
And so will my cold & cough.
My dog will have a stretch of days where she doesn’t poop in the house (🤞),
My son won’t be so sad to go to school (🤞🤞), My kids won’t bicker every afternoon when I pick them up,
And I will do a better job at talking to them calmly vs. yelling at them,
and it will feel so great.
But today... today still feels good, too.
Simply because I made time to run.
Running does that for me.
With every step, I appreciate the moment, myself, my life.
It’s why I run.
And I’m SO grateful.
After running indoors three times this week it was great to finally get back out there and enjoy the winter wonderland ☃️☃️❄️ It was an absolutely GLORIOUS sunny ☀️☀️ morning, a mild - 6C. Some tough headwinds though. Conditions of the roads were relatively ok: most snow had melted and no ice but there was some slush in some portions of the road. No matter. This gal was happy to get outside and get some much needed Vitamin D 😉▪️On the menu today : 1h25 minutes progression run with a segment at marathon intensity. Yes, you read it right, I didn’t say marathon pace but rather MARATHON INTENSITY. I’ve learned from both my previous coach Pierre @olym1984 and my new coach Dorys that when you are dealing with weather elements (wind, slushy/snowy/icy roads and wearing trail shoes to boot) you go with the intensity rather than the pace. I usually check my heart rate and if it’s around 155-160bpm, I’m in the game. Today I actually ended up with an average heart rate of 150bmp which tells me I could have pushed harder😁. Another 1h10 minutes run this weekend and it will be a wrap for the week as the coach is “gifting” us with a low volume week to allow our bodies to recover and be ready for the next round of marathon training which should be pretty intense 😱😱😩😩▪️HEALTH update on Nico and his momma: after staying home for most of the week and sleeping like a baby, Noco is almost back to his former self. He was happy to go back to school today🤗 Hopefully, momma doesn’t get the virus 🙏🏼🙏🏼▪️TGIF my friends 🎉🎊 Have an AMAZING weekend !! #tgif#happyfriyay#wintertraining#winterrunning#marathontraining#bostonmarathontraining#boston2019#abbottwmm#wherechampionsrun#livelifetothefullest#badassisamindset#marathoner#triathlete#marathonmaniacs#marathonmom#autismmom
Without a doubt the worst run I’ve ever had 😂😂
First time the sun has been out in what feels like a year and I decided, let’s go for a run LilyMae!🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
It was basically a 4 mile sled push trying not to die in puddles of slush and or mountains of ice.....but I did the dang thing.
LilyMae napped 🙌🏼
I got in a workout nevertheless.
And I am proud of myself for pushing through. Because I hated ever second of this one.😂😑
No excuses fam. Push yourselves out of you comfort zone, you’ll be proud of yourself! #fact

We are so in tune, Luna picked up the vibe to stick her tongue out because we haven't done that in a while! 😋 I haven't run more than 5 miles since October 2017 for the Good Life Halfsy 😳 We are back in the swing of half marathon training, so I took advantage of the sunny afternoon, which will likely be the nicest day of the weekend, and went for my long run. I'm building back up from 0. This week was a 6 mile run 🏃♀️ I am very thankful I could get decent weather and do my run outside, but I had a headwind and a mental battle the whole 3 miles out. This run left me feeling it, shedding layers, and in the true fashion that running isn't always pretty 😊 6 miles. 57:54. 9:39 pace. #run#running#runner#happylab#happydog#runningdog#getoutthere#winterrunning#halfmarathontraining#longrun#6miles#shot

I don’t believe in diets.
They are not successful because they are not sustainable!
I believe in fuelling your body with a combination of ALL foods.
This includes TREATS!
Life is too short.
Food is delicious.
Create a life you can be successful.
Not a life of limitations and restrictions.
Eat your veggies but also the chocolate.
Drink your water but also have some wine.
Find YOUR balance. Make it a LIFESTYLE!💗 #momsofthree#mom#momlife#winterrunning#notodiets#foods#lifestyle#health
I wore the shorts of shame today and I finally had my injury looked at. Whatever started from jumping down from a high stool at school has moved to my hip. I have greater trochanteric bursitis. It hurts like h #*! and had I not gone in, I would not have found the spot of my pain. Cortisone shot today to the spot, and physical therapy for the next few weeks. 😞. I am sad, however, I am so glad that it wasn’t anything more serious to my hip. Photos of my bones revealed that my chicken bones look really good, so that’s a good thing. Taking it easy for the next couple of weeks with low-low mileage (less than 5 miles). Frankly, at this point, I don’t want to limp around anymore and I want to be able to get down and play with my toddler. #injuredrunner#bursitiswhatever
Seeing as Week 10's long run was particularly unglamourous I'm uploading a piccie from Xmas day Park Run to make this post a little more interesting 😂 it's officially occurring to me now that more often than not, marathon training is less than exciting. The first 6 weeks of my training was likely the most excited I've ever been about running: I was pushing myself distance wise, actively working towards something amazing, raising money for an incredible charity ( #HeadwayUK ❤) and I was thoroughly enjoying the training. The excitement has worn off, as much as I hate to say it. Training for a spring marathon, it's tough. Cold, wet, snow, dark, fog. I find myself now desperately looking forward to my long runs but less than excited for my weekday evening runs. I have an hour commute which means I finish work, drive an hour then literally force myself out the door. Let me get this straight - I LOVE running, and I have never regretted a run, but the mental barrier to push through is one of the most difficult things I've had to face. I'm not saying this for sympathy, or to have a bitch or moan, but it's so important for us to share our experience. Every part of it. I've seen a number of my instarunner friends struggling through their marathon training, and to someone looking through my Instagram it may look as though I'm having a flawless training plan - but it's not always the case and the more we talk about it the better 😊 tonight's run was intended to be 13.1 - I cut it to 10 tonight (and it was DEFINITELY 10 - damn you Strava!) And that's okay, there's nothing wrong with that. Long run done this week and I'm ready to enjoy my weekend and spend time with my family. ❤ hope everyone has a fab weekend whatever you end up doing! 🏃♀️
I vetured out a little farther than usual today. The sun felt warm and it was a nice day to be outside. This is as close to mountains as we get here. At the bottom of the hill, a large flock of geese scared the bajeezus out of me when they created a cacophonous chaos as they flew away. The were hiding around the bend. I didn't see them, but they heard me coming and sounded the alarm. #geesearescary#winterrunning#trailrunning
That awesome lung searing pain of doing strides for the first time after two weeks... honestly they felt pretty great and were even progressive. I could tell my quads were a bit stiff from the temperature so I needed to ease into them a little bit. Mission accomplished.
I was happy to get outside again today. More sun, more birds chirping and a real feel in double digits! Tonight/ tomorrow we have 6-8 inches of rain/ ice/ snow and 50 mph winds coming... will winter ever end?
Regardless, I’m happy with where I’m at right now and excited to build on my fitness in the coming months.
Something magical happened on this morning's run 🔥🔥🔥
The plan called for a 15 mile run featuring a sub 1:45 half marathon. This is a reduced mileage long run but meant that my average pace needed to be much faster than on other long runs.
I set off hard, gritted my teeth and tried my best to kept my head in the game and it paid off! A run that was completely mind over miles and I managed my fastest half since 2014 on a training run!!!!
I still cannot believe I had that in my legs. All of this training might actually be making a difference 😂! 15 miles in total averaging @ 7:35 pace! To say I'm pleased with myself is an understatement! Lets hope this continues all the way until race day! 🤞
Also on a little side note I've had a super productive day and written a * brand new blog post * all about fuelling during a long run! Have a read, the link is in my bio 😍
Offer me something I’m passionate about and I’ll show up with all of my energy, effort and care.” That’s a great way to hide.
Because nothing is good enough to earn your passion before you do it. Perhaps, in concept, it’s worthy, but as soon as you closely examine the details and the pitfalls, it’s easy to decide it’s better to wait for a better offer.
What about considering the opposite? “Offer me a chance to contribute, and I’ll work hard on it, with focus, and once I begin to make progress, I’ll become passionate about it.” Work before passion measures our craft in terms of contribution, not in an idealized model of perfection.
Passion comes from feeling needed, from approaching mastery, from doing work that matters.
