I spent the last week of summer in Oahu and it’s totally appropriate that I’m spending the first week of fall in the rainy, cool northeast. The leaves are changing, Target is stocked for Halloween, all 4 of us are sick. Also I’m pretty sure there’s a mouse family living in my kitchen, and my entire downstairs has been under construction for a year(?!) - But Fall means baby birthdays and holidays and costume planning and family, so I’m embracing the changes with open arms.
I love this photo. We were waiting for our flight home, I was so relaxed and I couldn’t wait to get home and see my boys. I still feel like this. In the past couple of weeks I’ve been introduced to new friends, new opportunities, so many open doors. Jon said “this is the best you have ever looked... you’re glowing.” I can only compare this to the way I felt in grad school- I felt like I really knew myself and things were falling into place in my life. And after several seasons of change, overwhelming anxiety and a lost sense of direction, here I am again. Feeling content, calm, purposeful, - doors are opening and I’m more myself than ever before.

Wandering around Shinjuku is good fun. The lights and energy are off the charts. For a silly, touristy delight, pop into Robot Cafe. It may be gimicky but the show it still quite memorizing. Or you can stagger in and out of the tiniest bars you’ve ever seen in Golden Gai. ⠀
