Tested out my new Vivobarefoot shoes from @thefootcollective by balancing, hiking, jumping, and covering them in mud in Gatineau Park. Start as you mean to go on, right? The verdict is: I ❤️ them! Exactly what I needed to round out my shoe collection. Great grip, lots of toe space, and plenty of ground feel.
Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra or Dasara, is a celebration of good over evil. It is observed on the tenth day of the Hindu months of Ashvin, which coincides with the Gregorian months of September and October. It is believed that it was on Vijaya Dashami when Goddess Durga attained victory over the demon Mahishasura after fighting with him for nine nights. The festival also marks the victory of Lord Rama over the demon king Ravana after the latter kidnapped Rama’s wife Sita. The festival is celebrated with much fervor not only in India but also in Nepal. Everyone meet and greet their loved ones. In 2018, Dussehra falls on October 18🌺🌺

5k?.. completed mate!
On a serious note, two months of three times a week, from 0 fitness, to a very slow 5km jog, might not seem a lot, but it was very hard and and I actually really enjoy running now, I been using the couch to 5k app, highly recommend it.
Also, the last few months have been the first time I've been under 100kgs in well over a decade, I'm still a fatty, but I'm trying. 💪

Es geht wieder los. In Magdeburg beginnt die Odyssee nach Windhoek. Von dort geht es in die Kalahariwüste um einen Monat mit den San zu leben und von ihnen das Leben der Jäger und Sammler zu erfahren. Welche Herausforderungen stehen diesem Menschenkollektiv in der Moderne gegenüber? Ich freue mich sehr in eine der Wiegen der Menschheit zurückzukehren um den Menschen besser zu verstehen. Die letzten Monate habe ich mich auf Seminaren und mit selbstausgedachten Übungen sehr gut vorbereitet. Und ich hab extrem Bock auf Bögen bauen, Feuer machen, Nahrungssuche, lange Wüstenmärsche, Artenvielfalt und in die Kunst des Fährtenlesens weiter einzutauchen. That mental battle though!! 🔥🧠 I love the fact that I put myself through mental battles like this every time I train. I think it is so important. I think it transfers directly to the battles we have everyday and engraves what it means to fight for something in our minds. Maybe that’s me thinking too deep. Maybe it’s not. When I think lifting a barbell is scary and do it anyways, or when I think going up to the platform on @ninjawarrior is scary and do it anyways I know I am getting stronger in every aspect of who I am... physically being the most literal, but also emotionally and mentally. #twocents#fightyourmind#justdoit
Evidently I need to spend more time running playfully because look at the size of the vein popping out of my head! 😂 // Honestly, life is too short for a lot of things; amongst them insta photos that match, getting a self-timer shot that works, uncomfortable shoes and, apropos of nothing, cooking chocolate....(and broccoli).

🔸Hips uneven? ⚖️ Back pain? Disc pain? We get so many questions from people asking for an exercise to fix their uneven hips, back pain, disc issue, etc. As always, with the body, you can’t look at just one isolated area and expect a long-lasting improvement. .
Take a look at your foot. Is your arch collapsed? Flat-footed? Knee buckling in? This can contribute to wear and tear all over the body. It may seem like a waste of time to treat the foot and knee when your issues is in the hip but may see longer lasting results by taking this approach than ever before. .
Give this foot exercise a try. Focus on torquing the knee outward to lift the arch of the foot. The rotation of the knee should originate from the hip. You can simply twist the knee outward but this is not the goal of this exercise. You can substitute a shirt, towel, etc for the piece of paper. Play with different textures. .
As you work on the strength of your foot, get outside and walk on different textures barefoot. Spend more time being barefoot around the house. Continue to work on your foot strength. Strengthen your BASE with the BIG TOE anchor ⚓️
For those of you that may have ever taken part in a pilates, yoga or movement focused class you will have heard the importance of our contact with the floor. 🧐
So many muscles, nerve endings, structures in our feet that we neglect their role and what they do. Plus the big toe is believed to be one of the strongest joints in your body 💪🏼
By engaging the big toe into the floor we connect with our plantar fascia resulting in an effective and supportive arch of the foot and thus helping stabilise the ankle, knee and hip. See the big toe as your anchor. ⚓️
Challenge yourself with a multitude of movements and directions to really see how hard your feet are working or how much they haven’t been in the past!
