If it costs you your peace, it's too expensive. 🤞🏼 It's self care week, a topic I'm really passionate about. Not in the "bubble bath and home pedicure just so we can post it on Instagram" way, but in the gritty, introspective, self-awareness kind of way. Health has always been a passion of mine, and as I deal with the stressors I face each day, it's becoming increasingly more important for me to be aware of how I'm feeling each day and acting both proactively and in response to those feelings. ▫️Looking after my physical, mental, emotional, and social health has been important forever, but especially so since we've moved. Even though I've been in the UK for a year an a half, there are still some pretty foreign experiences! And yes, though life is pretty darn good, the stress of day-to-day living hasn't gone away. ▫️Self-care for me means that I take the time daily to look after my health, even in the simple ways - washing my face, going to the gym, drinking enough water. But it also means checking in on my stress levels or questioning why I've reacted negatively to a certain trigger. It means I spend time each week on activities that make me happy, like singing or spending time with the dogs. Especially in these long winter nights, I purposefully spend time outside because I know I'm prone to Seasonal Affective Disorder. In many ways, self-care is awareness and proactive steps to better holistic health.▫️When you think about self-care, what images pop up? What do you do to ensure your own self-care? •
[Your immune system could be the determining factor in premature labour. Researchers have found that having a strong immune system can help in preterm birth and premature labour.
Cytokines are small proteins which alert the body to infections and cause inflammation. It has been previously found that cytokines are found in amniotic fluid of many women who give premature birth. The immune system is likely to attack the foetus in the mother's womb.
But this procedure gets blocked during pregnancy. This means that the protection from immune system is blocked in some women and this could lead to premature labour. The study, which has been published in journal Reproductive Sciences, cells from female reproductive tract were taken.
In order to avoid risks of premature labour, it now seems imperative for pregnant women to work on their immunity.
Getting adequate sleep during pregnancy is extremely important to boost your immunity. Not getting enough sleep can affect your immune system and make you prone to falling sick more often. Lack of sleep can also affect the pace of your recovery. Cytokines are proteins which are majorly produced during sleep.
Iron intake is an important prerequisite for stronger immunity. Not only does iron help in boosting energy levels, it also helps in increasing your resistance to diseases, infections and stress.
Vitamin D supports the immune system by regulating cells which focus on fighting infections.]

Sometimes all you need is sunshine and to be by the sea. A trip to miami was always going to be a great idea
Some common misconceptions on how we catch a cold.
Although our immune system can get slightly compromised from a lack of Vitamin D during the winter months, only a virus is capable of causing the symptoms associated with a cold.
Check out my first post for more information on the importance of Vitamin D for immune function.
& don’t forget to always wash your hands!
It’s Tuesday. So it’s raining. ☔️ Altho I’ve never been medically diagnosed with seasonal depression, the fact that I am seriously contemplating running TO Florida ☀️🏃🏻♀️, seems like a strong indicator to me. I am sitting on the couch, I haven’t worked out & I am struggling thru Day 1 of my refresh. 🤦🏻♀️ #rainraingoaway#vitamind#needsun
I can’t get to a sunny beach for my Vitamin D anytime soon...so today I went to the tanning beds! I know...i know....”it’s bad for my skin”. You know what’s worse for my skin? Feeling like I want to sleep all the time, like I’m losing my marbles, like I want to escape reality. This time of year I need an extra dose of vitamin d, I take vitamins but love the warm tanning beds also :) Please don’t throw “shade” on me in the comments for this. (See what I did there? 😂😂🤷🏼♀️) West Linn Tan republic Groupon, one month platinum bed for $35..regular $100. Today is the last day to purchase this. ;) #tan#warm#vitamind#tanrepublic#westlinn
In aid of world kindness day why don't you share the love and pass on one of our little bottles of sunshine. Each Food Based capsule offers 1000 IU of vitamin D3, an essential, government-recommended supplement to be taking over the dark winter months.
DAY 8 #SkinEmmies2018
Super late with these posts but better late than never right! I know I’m cheating slightly but I could not decide between the two! I use both products daily without fail, either am or pm.
I cannot wait until @jordansamuelskin hits the UK! Hydrate Facial Serum is my favourite product of the line, because my skin is always in desperate need of hydration. I use two full pumps for my face and neck. It gives me that immediate relief and cooling sensation! Luckily I purchased the 120ml bottle so fingers crossed it lasts until it’s accessible in the UK!
➰ NOURISH AND SOOTHE
@zelensskincare Power D! HOLY GRAIL! I really don’t know what else to say! I have talked about this so many times and will always recommend it, as an introductory product to try from the Zelens line. It’s suitable for any skin type in my opinion. Any post skin laser treatments, this will be your best friend! Now, this is a slow burn product ie. not an overnight miracle, to replenish the skin’s barrier, building against environmental aggressors. However, it does definitely soothe, calm and nourish instantly. 🌱
➰ Ps. I am currently using the Calm Serum by @paulaschoiceuk which I am loving too! I will post an in-depth review, once I’ve trialled it thoroughly!
Happy Tuesday loves ✨
@antiagingamber & @morethanjustskin

Wem gehts genauso? Was ist eure Lieblingsjahreszeit? (Natürlich haben alle ihre Schönheit, aber es gibt ja häufig eine Tendenz)
Medscape #AHA18 Coverage Begins Today⠀
From our Cardiologist Correspondent, John Mandrola, MD:⠀
The slate of six late-breaking sessions begins with the VITAL trial, which is aptly named because its findings could affect millions of people who take vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acid supplements in an effort to prevent heart disease and cancer. ⠀
The vitamin D story, thus far, shows the challenge of getting health from a pill. ⠀
To wit, low vitamin D levels are associated with worse outcomes. Easy, you say, just replace it with a pill. The problem is that normal vitamin D levels stem from going outside, usually to be active. Sick people often have limited mobility, so they don't get outside much. ⠀
Put me down as doubtful that a pill can deliver the same benefits of regularly going outside to play in the sunlight.⠀
That's not all. For my Bayesian-minded friends, the priors for vitamin D supplementation look terrible. "We did not find evidence to suggest that vitamin D supplementation alone reduces the incidence of cancer or cancer mortality, even after including long-term follow-up results," write authors of a 2018 systematic review of 30 studies and more than 18,000 participants.⠀
There is slightly more hope for vitamin D and heart health. While systematic reviews have found no signal of benefit, most trials of vitamin D have been designed to study skeletal health and included relatively small samples of mostly older women.⠀
