Angkor Wat - the magical, stupendous temple complex, unrivalled in scale and grandeur in Southeast Asia.
6 tips that will come in handy when visiting Angkor Wat:
1. You need to get your visa for Cambodia in advance.
2. Tickets to enter the temple are available only till 5:30pm. There are 3 ticket options - 1 day, 3 days or 7 days. If you plan to see the sunrise over Angkor Wat be sure to purchase you tickets the day before.
3. Hire a car and guide and ditch the tuk-tuks for this one. The guides are extremely knowledgable and really help you get the most out of your visit.
4. What you are wearing is important! If you’re a woman, for basically every single temple you visit in Angkor Wat, you have to have both your knees and shoulders covered as a sign of respect.
5. USD is the commonly accepted currency everywhere.
6. It does get really hot - Carry enough water and you many want to keep a fan handy
Go on immerse yourself in the gorgeous ruins of Angkor Wat.

Let’s hear what Allison G talked about Paul, our Resident Host on Tripadvisor. “This was a great experience! Paul Medina especially was very friendly and helpful. We greatly appreciated that he spoke Spanish and English very well. This made the experience even more comfortable for me, my family and our group. If you stay here DEFINITELY make time for a massage!” https://bit.ly/2JFuipR

Dreaming of being back in this magical place ✨
There's something special about Angkor that can't be described. Admittedly there are about a bazillion tourists there every day, but when you manage to find a quiet spot it's pretty surreal.

• feeling like Lara Croft whilst exploring Angkor Thom in Cambodia🇰🇭 Places like this blow our minds.. how can something that was built nearly a thousand years ago still be standing today?! 🤯

Angkor Wat is one of the largest religious monuments ever constructed. The temple was built in 12th Century and encompassing an area of about 500 acres (200 hectares). The temple originally built as a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Vishnu for the Khmer Empire and than converted into a Buddhist temple in the 14th century.
The temple is located in Siem Reap, Cambodia and the entrance fee is 37 USD.

Bayon Temple is the centerpiece, both figuratively and literally, of Angkor Thom, the capital under the the most celebrated Khmer ruler, Jayavarman VII. It may represent the mountain center for the "churning of the ocean of milk" an episode in the Hindu epic Mahabharata in which gods and demons work as opposing/cooperative forces to draw out the elixir of immortality by churning the ocean against Mt Mandara. (See my earlier post for more)
As I’ve always been fascinated by Buddhist monks, I would spend up to whole days in monasteries, witnessing the monks daily life, or listening to them singing.
While in Angkor, I managed to spend some time with two young monks, who were happy to follow me for a bit while I was walking around.
