Touchdown in Italy 😁, landed in Milan at lunchtime and arrived in Verona late afternoon, flight was delayed which meant I missed the bus I booked so had to get the one after but we got here today which was the aim 👍. No running today amid delays and lots of sitting around in airports and bus stations on planes and buses 😄, will do a shakeout tomorrow when I go to the expo to collect my number, did 4 miles last night when I got to the airport and felt good with some faster running near the end to turn the legs. .
And this is my room or you could say box 😁. I’m stood on the back wall in this photo and likewise the bathroom ➡️, but we’re not here for sophistication we’re here to run a half marathon and have to say for just a bed and a desk it’s lovely, really quiet and what’s more it’s in the town centre where everything we need is within a mile radius, including the expo 😃, I can do strength and conditioning exercises on the floor what more do you want 😁. .
I’ve been to the supermarket round the corner and bought enough bread for at least three days so all is good 👍. I mostly use supermarkets when I go away for races and live off bread for the duration along with bananas or some other fruit and cornflakes, I’ll go out Sunday after the race for something a bit more interesting 😜. Just how we roll it works for me so there we are 😁. See you all tomorrow at the expo!!! 🏃🏃.
Yesterday I spent the day traveling to and from Leeds for work and sadly missed out on my beloved humpday 10ish miler 😥
Tonight I should have been doing speed work, but I decided to do my fav midweek run instead 😀 It might not be helping me get quicker, but it's possibly the run I'm enjoying the most at the moment. It leaves me feeling mentally strong and releives a lot of that stress that builds over the course of the week. From a physical point of view, I'm pretty sure this one's contributing a lot to my improving running economy, so that's a plus 💪
Happy Thursday all ✌️🌱
The most amazing brunch after a day off run 🏃♀️ I've been really enjoying running whilst listening to podcasts lately and today I listened to #thedisclosurepodcast by @earthlinged which, as with everything else ed does, was so informative and well spoken. Well worth a listen! 🌱💚
VEGAN CYCLE INDIA DAY 5&6! Had no WiFi last night, so here’s two days worth of bollocks.
100k yesterday - 90k today on the bike! Notes:
Today we stopped for lunch and got invited to a house to see a chapati being made. It ended with me in a sari and lipstick (some of the girls joined in too) and then some dancing. Much mirth ensued.
Indian tractors play really loud music via sound systems on their vehicles - this is because they are super proud of them and treat them as part of the family! It makes riding through rural villages into a tractor rave.
We’ve stayed in two castles over the last two nights. Castles are nice to stay in. I ran around the one last night but I’m a bit fucked today as it was warm and I got dehydrated.
Imagine having a massive curry buffet and then going for a 3 hour bike ride in 30C! Maybe it’s something we should do in the UK instead of the trad pub lunch?
I have never done much cycling before but have already done 222 miles this week. I’ve never even contemplated riding with no hands and I got up to 6 and a half mins yesterday. I wasn’t using my willy to steer, honest. I am proud as I failed my cycling proficiency test for being an unco!
Again - the team out here is awesome, the @kalypso_adventures_ lads rule, @weareveganuary lads are lovely and we have a strong crew of people riding.
Last day of cycling tomorrow - then we get to see Jaipur! Happy Valentine’s Day - I’m in ❤️ with 🇮🇳! 🚲🌱
After finishing my course early I had time to burn! As I am not really on my training plan this week due to time constraints decided to just go a run 😁😁🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️ Lifted the pace a bit to see how the training is going. Didn't push myself too hard so pretty chuffed with the times! 🤞🤞 for PB-tastic this year!

Last week I ran my first 11 miles without water or a gel just to see if I could and I was surprised to see that I was absolutely fine. Been having a glass of Iskiate (water, lemon, agave and chía seeds) before my last runs and I can feel and see a difference! I am not sure if I got faster because of it or because my body is getting back to where it was last year, but I can definitely say that I feel loads of energy and I know now that I won’t need a gel anymore after 10k if I have a glass of lskiate 🙌🏼 Yesterday I ran my fastest 5k of the year so far, not a massive achievement and minutes away from my PB, but I have not been sleeping enough and had to drag myself out of the house. Placebo effect or my body getting used to run more often again? I can’t tell, but I have the feeling that I am on the right path as today I ran segments of my usual running route over one minute faster! 😃 Half rehearse for the @officialbighalf is next to see how fast and far I can go with the new fuel. Exciting! @corbettjamiea I think iskiate does work! #running#rundemcrew#trackeast#veganrunner#veganrunnersuk#marathontraining#parismarathon#chiapower#fueledbyplants#beans#iskiate#veganchili#chiafresca

Running.. Long and far over any terrain.. it’s the human super power.
Can there be a more freeing sensation than just letting go in nature and feeling the rhythmic beat of your feet meeting with the earth?
When do you feel most free?
This year has started well so far. Gym & running consistency is getting there, got a new job that should make it easier to build the routine we want as a family & managing to spend more time with my Daughter.
I hit the gym this morning for a decent chest workout & then tonight I stepped up to group 5 with my run club. I ended up running my second fastest 10k ever! Today has been a good day.
Absolutely perfect weather for a run this evening, go out and enjoy it 😃
Nice cool weather with a super gentle breeze right now. I'm not sure if it was the weather or the high from sunday, maybe both? But felt so confident tonight. This training block has been fairly challenging, but at the same time it's so exciting to see how far I can go 💪
Now for some chili and metafit 🤩
Happy Tuesday all ✌️🌱
Vegan Cycle India Day 4! Day 2 of cycling - 100k done across every terrain imaginable! Flat tarmac, potholed village streets, rocky roads, hills, sand and shitty puddles! It had it all.
Today’s highlights included a quick stop at a school and entertaining some kids, being massaged with hot oil by a young Indian man and being asked if I was a bodybuilder!
Amazing drone video by Jonnie & Becca who are filming it for @weareveganuary - I didn’t take too many pics as I was getting sunburnt and being handsome AF. If you ever get the chance to do this then you should 🌱🇮🇳🚲👌

Look at all the friends I made on my run! Rude not to stop and speak to them as they came all the way to see me.
Been struggling for time over last few days with work, viewing houses, trying to fit sleep in and travelling all over Scotland so trying to run when I can.
Easy mileage today 😁
BUZZING from the Stockport 10K today! We had 230 @veganrunnersuk runners turn up and takeover the race!
I was very proud to come home in 7th place in 37:05 on what was a twisty, hilly and windy course. I am even more proud to be a member of this great running club.
We had first place (@alextheveganrunner) and last place (Pikachu) and watch this space for a video from the day that @ian.kitt and I have made. Well he is making it, I just did some showing off.
If you’d told me two years ago I’d drive 500 miles to run around some parks in Stockport in a pair of tiny shorts, I would have told you to get fucked. Great weekend and roll on Brighton for the next VR meet up in November 🌱🏃♂️👟👏
