A rainy day in Yellowstone, last fall. We have 10 times the space of Buster now that we’re home, but we still find ourselves gathering in small spaces: overlapping on the couch, squashed into the same chair to read a book—and the kids end up in our bed every night too ☺️. We’re used to tripping over each other at this point, and I gotta say that I really don’t mind it ❤️.
I'd rather be building vans than posting on social media.

There is something about about being out on the open road traveling and waking up to a new spot everyday. I love the unexpectedness of it all. Being about to meet new people and see things I’ve never seen before. But as excited as we are to be back on the road we’re actually stopping just as soon as we started. Are you ready for the big news?! We are headed to Thailand, Philippines and Bali! For the next two months! We actually leave in three days. That’s why we’re headed to San Francisco. We will be back but if you want you can follow our adventures in Asia!
that feeling of getting back #home and putting your feet up after a good ol' stomp☀

We’ve touched on this before, but we didn’t build out Ferdinand ourselves. Sure we picked out, like, the curtains or whatever, but sometimes a cabinet screw will come lose or our solar system will wig out and we’ll be left scratching our heads trying to reverse engineer how Pete and Tay constructed this beast. I often find myself scrolling your pages feeling jealous of the radiating sense of pride that so obviously comes from personally converting your vans. From resourcefully laying every plank and bolt and wire with love. But with every passing day we live in this fickle metal box, we still feel something swell. We chance upon the perfect blanket for his lonely cushions, and it grows. We curate another local sticker or patch to his scattered murals, and it grows. We bang our heads for the nth time on his unfortunate corners, and it shrinks momentarily, then grows. It took me months to recognize it, but it’s the very same feeling I’ve been envying on all your faces this whole time. Maybe we didn’t build our own van. But slowly, we’re building our own home. And out here, I can think of nothing more appropriate to bind us to you all.
The first shade of grey I picked out was way too light (almost white). It defeated the whole purpose of having all of the woodwork below the cabinets darker for durability reasons. Second color was a success. Behr Asphalt Grey is a lovely medium - medium dark grey!
1st stop on the #NorthernCaliExpedition KAGEL CAYON PARK. Having a puppy in the van you have to take breaks just so the little guy can stretch those growing legs!!!!!

Doors finished 👌🏽 If you're wondering why the windows are small you will soon see! 😜 Loving the van so much already ♥ Having time to do the van makes so much difference. We're taking our time, enjoying it and actually getting lots done like this 😊 🍃
Another thing we did when staging was decorate just a bit 💗
“Home sweet home” is right 😍
Did you decorate before you were close to finishing?
Or have you picked up decorations even though you’re not at all to that stage of the process?
Q: Did you build the camper and what is it made of?
A: The camper of the Dodgemahal is the prototype of the first @xpcamper Cube. It was made in 2013 of 100% fiberglass foam construction and weighs about 1300lbs. When fully loaded with gear, the truck is just over 10.5k lbs. Since the camper is a pop up, it is only 8.7ft tall at the highest point. For now. #35sinmyfuture?
We have such love for Colorado and we have so many friends and family members who live here. The saddest part about our brief visit is that we didn’t have enough time to see everyone we wanted to! Fortunately though, we were able to meet up with our amazing, creative, badass friend Kathleen of @tinyhousetinyfootprint and @vanlifediaries for coffee and catch-up before we started heading to Nebraska. And we finally got to check out her sick Toyota van!😍
Kathleen is also one of the authors of the Vanlife Diaries book that drops this spring, in which we are featured as well! You can preorder a copy today and we highly suggest you do 👍 We’re certainly stoked to get our copies! 😁
We started this year with thousands of dollars in credit card debt mostly due to me having to put grad school tuition on them but I’ll admit to indulging in a few material things that I didn’t need too! •
Today we celebrate being DEBT FREE and Perry signing the lease for a SECOND LOCATION 💥
To celebrate we’re taking *insert van name here* to MA and upstate NY. Its our first (make shift) trip in her and my goal is to name this baby! Build out starts soon! Any name ideas ??? Leave them in the comments 🚐💨

What’s that you see in the kitchen?! YES, it’s a washer in the @base_camp_skoolie . Skoolie living might be tiny, but it leaves room for a big life of adventure.
