“A dream is your creative vision for your life in the future. A goal is what specifically you intend to make happen. Dreams and goals should be just out of your present reach but not out of sight. Dreams and goals are coming attractions in your life.” — Joseph Campbell
I said something ridiculous the other day while we were driving...That’s usually where we talk most about our wildest dreams and goals. It’s safe to say some of our best ideas are formed while we are on a long road-trip or drive. Anyways, I said, “wouldn’t life be easier if we didn’t have SO many dreams and goals?? If we just floated through life? wouldn’t it be easier?”
I can’t even remember how Tommy reacted to me saying this because he doesn’t think like that, ever. He dreams something, and forms a plan of how we move forward right then and there. Nothing is out of reach to him, and I envy that mindset. I do understand life wouldn’t be easier with less dreams and goals...they are what keep pushing us forward. Maybe I get nervous (in a good way) because our most recent dreams and goals are just out of our present reach, but not out of sight... #slowcarfasthome

Watching a movie in nature...best thing for Friday nights. Great work @elisecook
Drove 300 or so miles yesterday to Los Osos, Ca. I planned to make camp at Montana de Oro state park before stopping by GoWesty in the morning. I stopped to fill up on gas before rolling in and when I was backing away from the pump my steering completely failed. A quick check revealed that the steering wheel shaft where it meets the floor and coupler had completely backed out and the collar that’s supposed to keep it all from doing so was loose. I put it all back together and started to head down the road. Then it hit me. I had just driven hundreds of miles on the highway at 70mph. Had my steering failed then... well let’s just say that may have been the end of LiveTheVanLife. That it decided to fail going .2 mph at a gas station a few blocks from @gowestycampers can mean only one thing. The Van Gods smile upon me. 🚎🌬

It's already the end of this trip ! In one week, we'll be back in Belgium. Those 6 months have passed so fast, there were truly amazing 😍
Sunset above the clouds with good friends... -
This is from near the summit of Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii. It’s such a unique spot to visit in that you can drive from near sea level to 14,000ft in less than 2 hours. Because of this quick change in elevation, you are required to stop at the visitor center at 9,200 for 30 minutes to adjust to the change. Even with that, we were all feeling the effects of the quick elevation change, or atleast we were all really out of breath… especially as I ran around trying to get photos of looking all awesome and stuff on our jeep. -
…not a bad way to spend an evening.
