Fellow Canadian and #skyscannerca squad member, @scottcbakken captures the true serenity that is Cameron Lake. With its forest-lined shores and still deep water, it is the perfect getaway on Vancouver Island.

Juan De Fuca - Day 1 (cont.) This is where it all went wrong. This is the face of a broken and defeated man (next to some smiley faced graffiti that did not help my mood). The next leg of the hike is from Bear Beach to Chin Beach, and it's the hardest 11kms of the hike. It's highly, highly recommended that you dedicate a full day just for this leg because it is no joke. But because I'm an idiot, and wanted to try to keep my pace to knock the whole trail over in 2 days instead of 3, I start Bear to Chin at 4pm.
Constant steep inclines through thick roots, uneven footing, thick mud (GAH, MUD), and wet rocks. And unfortunately it started to rain in the already lush forest which made cold temperature an issued when married with high coastal winds. I hit a physical and mental breaking point where I was slipping and tripping every five minutes, the load of my 18kg backpack was taking its toll on my upper back, and the wind hitting my wet shirt was making my teeth chatter and shiver uncontrollably.
This is where I had to make a decision whether to keep going for another hour and a half to the emergency shelter, or just camp in the woods and get warm as soon as possible.
2 is better than 1. @j_knight27 had his hands full up in Nootka. 🤲🏻🐟 Send in your Pics and or videos to be Featured!

We have been in Vancouver and yesterday took one of the Harbour Air sea planes over to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island . You don’t fly very high and the taking off and landing on the water is pretty exhilarating. I am not the best flyer so I was on edge the whole 20 minutes but Wayne got us there in one piece. Cheers Mate #harbourair#nanaimo#vancouverisland
Made it through all the photos and I couldn’t wait to start sharing them with you 🙊. We hiked around 13km to get to this lake and it was so worth it! 👌🏻 Ollie was such a good little hiker and I couldn’t be more proud of him on his first overnighter! .
There will always be a special place in my heart for alpine lakes and mountains. 🗻

The Southern Resident Killer Whales are late...
According to 'The Star' and confirmed by the @centerforwhaleresearch the 76 critically endangered SRKWs are about one month late for their annual summer visit in the Salish Sea. They normally spend about a third of the year, often May to October, in these waters to feed on Chinook Salmon. But the salmon runs are in decline what causes the whales spending drastically less time in the Salish Sea since 2013.
Biologist Michael Weiss told 'The Star' : “I don’t think anybody here recalls any June without whales. It’s really unprecedented."
The exact reason why the whales are that late this year is still unknown but scientists who work with these whales for years and decades are convinced the 76 individuals will arrive in the next few weeks. “I don’t think they have abandoned this place forever,” Deborah Giles says. “This is part of their cultural history. This is part of the fabric of their lives.”
We are all waiting for them to come back! #NoFishNoBlackfish
