I am a believer in this method! Good stuff.

This is what @jeffgallowayolympian says about going over marathon distance on your training for a marathon. I have done this myself and have gotten up to 29 miles when training for a marathon. Two things I can say about this. 1. To go over the marathon distance you need a long training cycle, and need to be training for months before starting your marathon training, forget about this if you are against time and don’t have the weeks for the build up. 2. Every time I go over marathon distance my body adjusts and has an easier time going slow and going longer and further. I can only say: you are the one who limits yourself, your body can achieve amazing things. #werunhappy
Another rock solid week heading into #twistedbranch100k I feel like this has been my strongest block of training yet! I’m using this as a complete training run for #mountainlakes100 testing all my gear, nutrition, and pace plans. I always get looks from people when I say “I’m running a 100k as training run.” Hahaha most of the world doesn’t understand us crazy runners! #runlongrunhappy#irunfar
This is why I do “training races”, and today a lot went wrong. PMDD, for one, pain and shortness of breath from the start. Fine, I’m just here for the mileage anyway. At about 3 miles my hydration bladder (new, used 4 times, camelbak) ripped a seam and 100 valuable ounces of water ran down my legs. Left was my highly concentrated handheld bottle with carbopro - and I sweat like nobody’s business...
Ok, I’ll be fine without the bladder. My stomach said “NO” to that at about mile 9. (I’m in all kinds of pain now). Also, the camelbak chafed open the two areas from before AGAIN so again I look like I’m growing wings. All in all, it’s back to the drawing board bc today hurt and Noble Canyon is 16.5 miles longer! #optoutside#noblecanyon50k#ultrarunnerintraining#sls3usa#teamsls3
Last long run before race day. Things didn’t go as planned 😁 The plan was 42km. Reality was a sharp pain on the outside of my knee forcing me to call it quits at 31km. Stupid IT band. I see bike riding and lots of foam rolling in my future. Happy with the gains I’ve made yet just a tad disappointed in not making it the full distance. #racedayiscoming#runnerproblems#ultrarunnerintraining#trailrunning#vancouverisland
8 days and counting. And I’ve yet to plan or think about anything for #twistedbranch100k other than getting there. Sounds like a great ultra coming up! But for real, I’m not too worried about it. I pretty much have a set plan for these things now... so I don’t change too much if things are working well! #anotherdayattheoffice#iliketowingit
I've just crested the second major hill of three in this 23 mile race from Baker Beach to Stinson Beach. I'm still learning how to train effectively, to analyze my results, to push past limits, and in this race I learned how just to show up. I was a nervous wreck in the hours leading up to the start. I waited in my car with twisted guts wondering why I should even make the effort. I've completed challenging runs before with results I'm proud of, but in my doubt, my focus was on all the ways I wasn't a real athlete like those other runners. But then they said "Go" and I had to choose - run or quit. So I ran, and ran and f-ing ran some more. It was the COOLEST race ever! Not only did I get to share a beautiful day in beautiful scenery with beautiful, uplifting, supportive and strong people - I got to run my race my way without doubting myself for a second. Oh yes, my emotions were as up and down as the terrain. There were tears, but there were more smiles. And of the women, I finished in 6th place. I'm not quite an ultrarunner yet, but I'll get there. #rocktheridge2018#theridge37k#trailrunning#trailrunner#ultrarunnerintraining
Taper time! Onto #twistedbranch100k. Finally feeling the effects of very precise training! I feel like I could run 100 miler. It’s been awhile since I’ve felt this way, but it means my training is paying off. I’ve busted my butt this last year to get here, and don’t plan on stepping back. Don’t worry #mountainlakes100 I’m coming for you next! #mdtr#traindirty
New trend alert 🚨 #camonutrition - when your Trek bar is the same colour as the trail 🙅🏽♀️! Two very different runs - 17 miles on the #ridgeway yesterday in blazing sunshine (really need to get stronger on those hills) and 5 and a bit miles today in torrential rain ☔️ (note to self: running faster doesn’t get you out of the rain any sooner when your goal is time not distance 🤦🏽♀️). #bringbacktheheatwave

#flashbackfriday to @extremeenergyuk Chiltern’s Ultra race in July. Mileage is a little down on June, but it’s all part of the plan and I’m working on not just focusing on the numbers.
It’s easy to worry that you’re not doing enough when instagram is full of people who seem to be doing so much more - but trust in your training, do the work and in the words of the awesome @des_linden ‘keep showing up’.
Shout out to everyone racing this weekend and special 🙌 to all @centurionrunning#ndw100 runners - you guys are amazing! 😘
