One year ago I finished my first 50k race 💙💙😍

This is my online client @_josh_smash_ finishing his first 50k (31 mile) Ultra Marathon. Like me, Josh is a Powerlifter. Unlike me, Josh started his journey weighing close to 300lb. At the beginning of this year Josh was preparing to enter his next meet. At that point, the furthest he had run was a half marathon. We agreed that his next competition would be a full length marathon in the summer; however, a few weeks out, Josh was told the event had been cancelled. I advised him to find another race as close to that date as possible. The only other viable option was an ultra distance trail run. Was it possible to go from running a half marathon to successfully completing a 50k whilst weighing around 200lb and maintaining strength? This past weekend, he proved for sure that it was- and then some. I never heard one complaint from Josh during the entire training block. This guy puts his head down and he works. One of the most phenomenal hybrid athletes I have ever had the pleasure of coaching and a great example of a man who will have success in all that he does because of his unwavering positivity. Congratulations, buddy.
Did the Leadville MTB 100 the week before and came in Top 20, ran the Leadville 100 miler in 15 hours 54 minutes.
You're a freaking legend.

The emotions of getting a hug from @garyrobbins at the Finish line was very real; it was impossible to keep the tears away. Two years of training with multiple injuries, alone in the bush hours on hours to get stronger and faster. So much work done and so much room to improve still. I’m hooked! Coming back next year to crush my own time:) I’m officially a #ultrarunner#sq50#mylegshurts@squamish50#squamish
I’m super excited to announce my husband and I have started a YouTube channel! We’ll be talking about running, health & fitness, handcycling, ultrarunning, and of course a good dose of Disney and all our runDisney adventures. Check out Race You to Adventureland on YouTube and let us know what you think. Link is in my bio. Don’t forget to subscribe!

When we designed the new running vest Pace 12, our product development team spent 1284 hours in the cold terrain and behind the sewing machine. Thank you guys for all your passion.

Chasing those final days of summer today with @kyrafaulkner and the girls. Truth be told I wanted to take a nap, clean up our house after a busy weekend, and go to bed early. Kyra had other plans and got us out of the house for an opportunity to connect as a family in a way we wouldn’t have otherwise. She’s smart. #makeadventure
one of us is wearing a hat 🧢, one of us is not. read on for the grit, heart and run deets. 👇🏻
dnfs hurt no matter how you spin them and i left the sunglasses 😎 on to spare you the ugly tear marks. i called it a day around the mile 20 mark. 10 miles is close and so far. my back was seizing and it wasn’t safe to continue. i knew this was a risk, as i have been continuously dealing with the whiplash effects post car accident. but, i needed to get out there anyway. so, i did, for just a few less miles than i wanted. I have all the feels - disappointment, frustration, anger - but, mostly i am proud. .
this guy finished 🏅 🧢 after chasing some extra hard cutoffs because he made the choice to stay at my pace as i barely made it off the mountain in one piece. so, let’s all congratulate @jessejamesjamnik_healthcoach 🙌🏻😍. and, i will share all the blood, sweat and tears later. .
let’s just say, today was fueled by heart ♥️ and grit because my body completely gave up. with time, i will be okay with it, until then, it hurts as bad as my chaffing battle wounds. .
THANK YOU for cheering 🙌🏻, supporting and being part of this small piece of my world. i promise to catch up on all the comments and messages 🤗
