There's nothing that makes our Friday quite like seeing people making music with our gear!
#Repost from @tbrstudios - @sarahcarmosino in the studio working on a cool new project!
What has made the V13 such a hit? Is it the custom-voiced ultra-thin capsule in an open-weave headbasket? Is it the top-notch componentry that's been cryogenically treated? Is it the 3 years we spent exhaustively prototyping, re-prototyping, and testing in studios all over LA? Or maybe it's just that we like making great-sounding mics that don't blow up your piggy bank. We want to redefine what "bang for your buck" means with professional, affordable, original gear that we're proud to use in our own studios. Either way, we hope you love making music with it too! Give us a shout if you have any questions. Looking forward to hearing from you! -Derek @ Vanguard Audio Labs
Oktava’s advanced development product: MKL-112 premium tube microphone with a large diaphragm and variable polar pattern.
The MKL-112 is a recording microphone with a characteristic bottle-shaped retro design and a gold-plated large-diaphragm capsule; it is designed to be an upgrade of the legendary MKL-5000. The new model is capable of smooth switching of polar patterns, with the controls being moved to the power supply unit, the new capabilities of the microphone will help to capture even more tones of the performer's voice. According to sound designers, the MKL-112 gives a richly colored warm sound. During the upgrade of technology engineers managed to maintain the characteristic warmth of sound, peculiar to microphones of this class. It is recommended for recording the voice of the host, solo vocals and chorus.
Good tone recipe right here. I have to laugh when people freak out that I’m putting a U67 on a 4x12 cabinet. This thing can take anything you throw at it.......I bought this mic in ‘03 after the first Dixie Chicks tour I did. They were much cheaper then. This Marshall cabinet found me shortly after I moved to Austin and has been on all my solo cds. Old faithful. #u67#tubemic#vintagestuff#tone

🎶Vanguard and Tree Audio, sittin' in a tre...dang it, that doesn't really work, does it?
We got to hang out today at @modern_fuzz_studios and demo our line of microphones on drums. First of all - what a great room! It's one of the best drum rooms I've heard in a long time. Big ceilings, just the right amount of everything. It's a fantastic studio, and if you're in the Pomona, CA area it's probably the best place to get your drums tracked within an hour's drive. Mike is an awesome guy, they have some stupendous gear, and we were so happy to be able to hang out and test some of our mics there!
Secondly - HOLY SMOKES, these @tree_audio consoles are next-level 🎚️🎛️. I've been curious about them for a while and haven't gotten to hear one until today. I appreciate any pro audio company with great people, great customer service, & great gear (and analog makes it double)...this console gave us one of the better sounds i've ever heard on our microphones without any EQ or compression (which is built into each channel!), and I've heard them through quite a few preamps. It's just a brilliant piece of work - go check out the wonderful folks at Tree Audio right now!
Last, but not least - we'll be editing and hosting the audio files on our website ASAP, as well as including photos of the various mic positions and patterns. Everything was 44.1k straight from this lovely Tree Audio console to an Apollo converter right into Pro Tools - as usual, no EQ, no compression, no tweaking. We believe in getting as close as possible to record-ready with a minimalist signal chain, right to tape. We tracked amazing sounds from every mic in this photo in various configurations - the V1+LOLLI, the V13, the V44S, and the V4, and we're so excited that Vanguard Audio Labs microphones will be a mainstay at Modern Fuzz Studio. If you have any questions, please let me know, and check our Insta stories for some video and more photos! -DEREK
