Hello! Book Instagram is my favorite Instagram (just beating out dog Instagram). I’ve found it to be the best place to nerd out about favorites and find new things to read, not to mention the zen it brings to my feed. So, I’m diving in and looking forward to being part of #bookstagram !
Like a lot of bibliophiles, I love libraries. I don’t know if it is the quiet, or the way they smell, but there is something about them that brings a sense of peace. The Long Room of the Old Library at Trinity College, which has been housing books for centuries, was a bucket list place for me and did not disappoint. Anyone else have literary travel bucket list items?
Trinity College Library 🇮🇪 // The Library began when Trinity College was founded in 1592.
In 1661, Henry Jones gifted the Book of Kells, its most famous manuscript, to library. The book of Kells is an illuminated manuscript Gospel book, containing the four Gospels of the New Testament and various prefatory texts and tables.
It is believed that the book originates from around 800 AD.
The main chamber of the Old Library, is the Long Room (pictured). The Long Room was constructed between 1712 and 1732 and houses 200,000 of the Library's oldest books.
In 1801, the Library was given legal deposit rights; meaning that all publishers in Ireland must deposit a copy of all their publications there, with no fee to the library //
Trinity College is our favorite library. The rows of classic books several stories high was almost too much for Grace to handle. The oak walls and vaulted ceilings create an amazing ambiance for the six millions books housed there. Have you visited any wonderful libraries?

My husband and I travel a fair bit for work, but once a year, for my birthday, we try to take a trip just for us. This year it is Ireland, London and Salisbury to attend my friend Catherine’s wedding. Spending this time together is the best gift a busy person can give and I have appreciated this so much.
I absolutely loved our time in Ireland. Our visit to the Trinity College Library and the Long Room in particular was a highlight for me. This room is absolutely spellbinding and certainly a bucket list item for book lovers!
Do you have any bookish bucket list places to visit?
