Swimming lesson tonight as I set out on my quest to swim 1.2miles around a lake next June. The “good” news is, although I can swim, it seems I do everything wrong and so I’m having to unlearn and relearn, which the instructor (who is fabulous) told me is harder to do than learn the first time. I have to think about everything which means I forget other things. Tonight I forgot how to breathe 😳My arms are aching but my classmates are all so jolly it’s hard not to enjoy myself. Wearing my “Runner” sweat to remind me how this all started in the first place....but it will get easier won’t it? 😬😫 #@thismumruns #thismumruns#runnerfullstop#swimming#swimmer#learningtoswim#triathlontraining#trilife#relearning#unlearning#running#dbmax
A little #transformationtuesday The girl on the top was quiet, shy and so self conscious that meeting new people was terrifying. If you had told her she would take a picture wearing a bathing suit never mind travel half way around the world alone and race in one she would never have believed you. 🦋
For the woman below the weight loss was about so much more than how I look, seeing that I was capable of it, feeling strong at the gym, then later in triathlon gave me a confidence and belief in myself I never had before. It completely opened up my world and gave me so many great opportunities tearing me out of my comfort zone and learning how to push my boundaries. Triathlon took that even further. I never played sports, had never swam, biked or ran a kilometer it was so hard to start and why not start all 3 at once to make it more interesting 😜. It’s been an unbelievable journey in the sport and I love seeing others do the same 💕

Just one year ago, walking to the mailbox was something I literally hated! It felt too far!
Then, with the help of the social-media algorithm Gods (they exist, right?!) I was put in front of a trainer based in Chicago (I'm in Connecticut). Eric Bassett of EB30X was training people who actually looked like me - plus size clients are rarely featured anywhere on social media but that's exactly what I saw on his pages, so I followed along! After commenting several times, he saw my interest and called me out of the blue, we had a session together through FaceTime! Brilliant!
I trained with him twice a week, and in one year I had lost 100 lbs (45 kg)! Around the eight-month mark, I knew that I wanted to celebrate my accomplishment doing something waaaaay out of my comfort zone! I had been showing up for myself and trying hard to be more fit - so next up, I chose to Tri and signed myself up!
My partner, family, and friends literally surrounded me that day and held me up - and Eric FLEW IN FROM CHICAGO to support me. IT WAS EPIC!! Besides the birth of my three children, it was the best day of my life!
If anyone is doubting themselves, I do hope they will take a spin through my story. I'm proof that if you show up for yourself - great things happen! ~ Lisa Jo Hurbaugh [@ljlosinglbs]
Thank you for sharing your story with us, Lisa! Keep Tri'ing! 🏊🚴🏃 #ordinarypeopleextraordinarypassion

Anyone else randomly walk past a hair salon, decide to go in and chop off 8 inches of hair? No? 😜
Life has been hectic lately and a little in flux and I just randomly wanted a big change. I feel refreshed and ready to tackle anything that comes. Plus it will make it so much easier on all of the trainer and treadmill rides in my future this winter. ❄️
I got so lucky that the stylist I got was fantastic. Thank-you @megantippin.hair I love my bob! I don’t know the last time my hair was above my shoulders it feels so light. @divacalgary
