“Oh I’ve been a fool but it’s cool, that’s what human bein’s do, keep ya eyes to the sky never glued to ya shoes. Guess there was a time when my mind was consumed, but the sun comin’ out now, clouds start to move. Don’t tell me nothin’ but the truth. I’m tired I don’t gotta spare a second. Win or lose win or lose, I don’t keep count nobody checkin’.” -MM
In her Quebec-accented English, peppered with Canadian apologies, the lady sitting next to me on a flight from Budapest to Toronto last summer strongly recommended I ‘must’ visit Cantons-de-L’est if I’m ever in the area. I don’t remember details of her suggested itinerary but I do remember her talking about a castle-like church in the Eastern Township with its beautiful Art Deco interiors. She was not kidding. (See the exterior of this church in a drone shot about 7 posts below.) •
ICELAND!! Quite simply there's nothing else I've seen quite like this piece of Earth. It may look like a cut and paste but that's just the magic of Iceland!
Whilst the budget was absolutely blown in this country it was worth every over budgeted krona. This stunning part of the World saw the introduction of the "Oreo Diet". The local delicacies of hot dogs and fermented shark were given a chance but well Oreos win.
Iceland is one of the few places on my hit list to return to there just wasn't enough time to do this country justice.
Before you ask no I didn't see the Northern lights. Why not? Turns out my presence has no bearing on natural light displays 😠. Though Iceland delivered another first ... snow falling on Australia Day! Now that's one hell of a rare phenomenon!!! So is an Australian lunatic dancing solo in the streets before dawn with snow floating down all around her! Now surely that's a more rare phenomenon than the Northern lights 😉

You know when you're growing up and you're told not to get in cars with strangers??? Well I'm pretty sure nobody said anything about getting on the back of motorbikes with a local guy with a broken arm did they!?!? Safety first ... I'm wearing a helmet aren't I 😉
