I realise that most of what I see, or feel, or experience during my travels can never really be contained in any medium - be it in words or pixels. And so, sometimes, I don't even try to capture those moments. I shove my phone in my back pocket, camera in my backpack, and sit alone, trying to absorb all the vibes of the place in its purest form. In a way, these moments are stored somewhere within me, as a part of me, as a part of my past that only I have access to. It's an intimate connection, and I consciously don't want to share it with the world, or even the people closest to me. I mean, sure, I can tell you how it feels to go to a remote village and share a meal with those simple folks, while listening to traditional songs. But will I ever be able to replicate how I tickled their youngest son till his laughter echoed in that small room? Can I possibly say how warm that tea felt in a stranger's hut after hiking in the rains for 4 hours straight? Would you be able to imagine how it feels to hold your partner's hand and hear the faint strumming of a guitar from the only lit window by the dark road? Do you feel the chills as you cycle past green rice fields even as the sky roars and you see flashes of lightning in the distance?
You may have a vivid imagination, but you cannot live it through someone else. The road is probably the biggest teacher you can have. It rewards your struggles, it teaches you patience, it gifts you experiences in abundance and it assures you at every step, that the world isn't as bad as they make it sound.
It may not work out for you the same way it does for me or someone else. But if you want to know the world - strike that, if you want to know yourself better, then try it. Who knows, maybe it will be the best decision you ever take?

Magnificent Anaho Bay, the most spectacular anchorage in the Marquesas, with beautiful sandy beaches, coral to dive on and rugged cliffs as a backdrop! The bay is completely protected from the ocean, so for the first time in months - all the way since Panama - did we have a restful
calm sleep without any rolling. Over the next few days other friends' yachts would come and join us, and we'd explore and party on the beaches.
