Waking up early before everyone else is always exciting to me. This time had less hours of sleep because we slept outdoors. On this beach. With an extra towel only. It was cold and dogs were barking throughout the night. A mysterious cat was sleeping on a cliff nearby us. A motorbike was brumming away with it's flash lights. I hoped nobody would find us. So emberresing If they did. What would I say. All that for waking up to this sight. Sunrise. Cliffs in the water. We took some photos before all the other visitors and tourists came. That was the peak of the time in Lindos for me!
Beishan Broadcasting Station #北山廣播站 on Kinmen, used by the nationalists to blast propaganda at the communists a few kilometers away. Not far from here the battle of Guningtou 古寧頭came to an end when thousands of CCP soldiers surrendered on the beach. Blog to come!
Europe’s encounter with “the Orient” manifested itself in many different aspects of European culture, but most visibly and monumentally in architecture. From the late 18th century until the early 20th century, palaces and stately homes, pavilions, learned institutions, public baths, commercial buildings and numerous interiors were transformed into markers of Europe’s Orientalist obsession. The Monumental Ensemble of Bussaco embodies this shift, combining romantic Gothic architecture with oriental revivalism culminating in a magnificent structure.

Torrance beach is a hidden gem. It is crowded at all. You can practically have this stretch of sand all to yourself.
