At the top of the adjacent mountain we saw a trail left from a bear. You could see where it walked down from the top, and then fell and slid the to the bottom. Fortunately, we didn’t see the bear itself, only the story it left behind.

Because each place needs to have a bit of Italy to it 😍😋
Our chanterelle loot from Detroit Lake area! We found mostly white chanterelles. Thinking about what to make with them tonight. We made a quiche with the golden ones from the farmers market. What do you suggest? Anyone have any good recipes for us to try?

I was wondering why our 6 year old was taking so long to eat her Roti Canai this morning. She was concentrating on drawing this... Next thing we know, she’s teaching the cafe staff about single use plastic 😁

Caught the first snowflakes of the season from this pretty perch 🍂❄️
Another library checked off my list, high fives! This was the only touristy thing I did in DC and even though they don’t allow nosy people like me in their amazing reading room, I appreciate that they’ve provided this balcony from which to view it and ooh and ahh appreciatively. The entire building is a tiled, marbled, gilded wonder with all kinds of literary flourishes. I was trying to read all of the inscriptions, but my tour guide was apparently embarrassed by my floor selfie with the Capricorn mosaic and kept hurrying me along.
Next library goal: The Municipal Law Library in Munich.
