NEW DESIGN ALERT! Hillside Bowhunter is a print on demand merchandise site from an outside manufacturer @spreadshop. I chose that way because money to me isint the route to all happiness. Living a good life and doing something you love with the people you love is true happiness. And I just simply love people coming up with an idea and making it known for what it provides people with a message to hold on to. That’s what I came up with. Providing not only Hunters but for people all over to let them know you are not alone, we’re all trying to chase happiness whether it’s found in the whitetail woods, the rivers, bays and lakes for ducks, a career your after not for the money but what makes you happy, finding love or starting a family we’re all in an uphill battle “pun intended” on that hillside of life. Keep climbing find that hand and foot hold and take it one step at a time and you’ll reach the top that is right there in front of you!SEE YOU ON THE HILLSIDE
Finding the right pack to run with can be frustrating and costly. I’m petite and find it tough to have packs fit me and not chafe while running. The @orangemud endurance pack fits me the best out of my packs but I don’t always need the beefiness of it. Storage in that pack is awesome and carries a 2 liter bladder with room up front for soft flasks. So it’s great for races with large gaps in between aid stations or runs where you don’t have the option to refill your water for sometime. I’ve been using the gear vest for my recent long runs and have been loving it. It offers almost everything the endurance pack does but toned down. Which means it carries a 1 liter bladder and still has pockets up front for soft flasks. Only thing this pack doesn’t have that the endurance does is a pocket in the back that zips closed. Which for what I’m doing I’m honestly not missing it. Out of all my @orangemud packs this gear vest fits me the best and has proven it throughout my recent long runs. No bouncing or chaffing and easy to refill the bladder. I wore this pack for all of Javelina Jundred. 100 miles running with that pack and zero chaffing 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼. Not to mention not once did it annoy me because let’s face it certain things can be annoying after miles out on the trail and sweating your butt off in the heat. This past weekend this was my go to pack for Avalon 50 and it held up amazingly through the heavy rain. The new version has a zip pocket on the back that I think is a brilliant add and definitely needed. #orangemud#thedirtunit#mythoughts#myownopinion#runningthroughdepression#ultrarunner#trailrunning#trails#gearreview

I've been working on this map for a LOOOONG time and I'm excited to say it should go to press first week of February. In stores March. Entitled 'French Broad Region', this map covers the NC/TN border with Pisgah and Cherokee National Forests. Of course, all the trails are covered and we also worked hard to include tons of river recreation like all the major rapids on the Pigeon, French Broad, Big Laurel and Nolichucky Rivers as well as put-ins/take-outs. We'll be donating a portion of the proceeds from this map to AW for the Noli Wild and Scenic effort. Rocky Fork State Park and Martha Sundquist State Forest are also well represented plus a lot more!
I was supposed to do my first speed workout of my training block today, but the weather wasn’t accommodating. I opted for some strength work and a shorter run instead. I set out just to run until I got too cold and happily got in a full hour.
It was too wet to take any running pics, so here’s a #latergram that @kevlvphotography took.
