Well, there are two types of shed hunters right now. Those of you that can and those of us that can't. I've been enjoying seeing everyone's success so far this year. Enjoy it and appreciate it cause who knows when your home state will be next. Colorado can do so much more to improve the mule deer population. CPW just needs to think outside the box. A restructuring of our seasons might be a good step forward for deer. Eliminate rifle rut hunts and replace them with archery hunts. Move all rifle hunts to October. Shorten the duration of early archery. Move muzzle loader season towards the last week of September. Make an early shed season a draw and make us pay for that privlidge. Lobby hard to bring back spring bear hunting. Restrict cattle grazing on any critical winter range. I'd argue that any of these examples would do far more for wildlife than eliminating shed hunting till May. Then there's the wolf issue......not quite ready for that one yet but will more than likely be part of our future here in Colorado.
I hope all my shed hunting friends enjoy my pictures as much as I'm enjoying yours. Just a random selection from the past ten years. Every day is one day closer to May 1st!! #coloradoantlers#trprostaff#tradersrendezvous#milesforpiles#browngold#sheds#elk#muledeer#shedhunting#tinesup#moose#sicforit#publicland#coloradoshedhunting#wapiti#antlers#antlerhunting#cpw#coloradobiggameclub
