Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the Wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand....W.B. Yeats
The Stolen Child by Yeats is the inspiration behind the Stolen Child Garden designed by Mary Reynolds in Delta Sensory Gardens in Carlow.
The grass sculpture in the garden is a sight to behold.
This is one of many stunning gardens within the Delta Sensory. If you’ve not been, it really is worth a visit.
We visited Duckett’s Grove in Carlow yesterday.
Built in the 18th, 19th & 20th centuries, what remains of this vast structure dominates the landscape and has quite an eerie appearance on its approach. It really is a sight to behold.
There was great excitement in the air this morning. My small girl was up with the birds & extremely giddy.
What we’re we doing you ask? Going to the beach for breakfast!! I’m still amazed at such excitement for something so simple.
We’d prepared our raspberry overnight oats last night, I made chocolate chip muffins yesterday, we had strawberries and grapes. This morning all I had to do was throw everything into a bag, make a flask of hot chocolate, a cup of coffee and off we went.
We had a lovely morning, it was beautiful on the beach, she made the most of the couple of hours we spent there, she made art, gathered treasure, dipped her toes in the water, climbed rocks and ran....lots! And just before we left she gave me the biggest hug and said, ‘Thank you so much for bringing me here today, I had the best fun’! My heart is full ❤️

It’s the last full week of the Summer Holidays. It’s been a quiet couple of months, and slow, and that’s okay. I feel like we got lost along the way, well we did I guess, I spent four weeks armed with chicken pox remedies.
I watched as others holidayed and had lovely days out while we were here at home, but that was ok too.
These holidays were mostly spent at home, together. We had good talks with all of the children, there were cuddles and fighting (the flippin’ fighting 🙄), we had proud moments and of course rambles on beaches, baking and making, afternoons hanging out in the garden, evenings watching movies and reading books from the library.
It hasn’t been a bad break by any means, in fact, there’s a lot to be said for slow living. I’m not quite sure I’m ready for routine again. (Though I won’t miss the sibling scraps, requests for Xbox and teens who don’t rise until lunchtime 😂)
Our friends in the US are celebrating on Monday 19th August! Why? Because it's #NationalSoftIcecreamDay

Late last night this little chap was found in our carpark with his head caught! Thankfully Ed managed to free him and look how happy he looks as he walks across the floor!
Obviously our Ferrero smooch was too tempting to resist for our friend here!!! Tune in tonight to see Ed set this little hedgehog free! #Morriscastle#kilmuckridge#thisiswexford#wildliferescue#hedgehog#freedom
Happy birthday Niamh!!! Yes - It was a Big Day for valued and dedicated Lawler's of Morriscastle team member Niamh O’Connor who celebrated her 20TH Birthday today.
No big sleep in for this lady who clocked in on time at 8.30am for her shift at Lawlers this morning! What we like to see!
Niamh loves sport and in particular playing Camogie with the Buffers Alley senior squad. Currently studying Sport Coaching and Performance at Waterford Institute of Technology….the future is a bright.
Today took us out to the National Heritage Park in Wexford. We hadn’t visited in a few years so our youngest two hadn’t ever experienced it.
There are 16 full scale sites within the Heritage Park which will transport visitors back thousands of years in Ireland.
It’s a fun, educational afternoon out. We spent a couple of hours here and finished with coffee in the restaurant at the end. Wexford residents can also apply for a residents card, if you don’t have one already. Admission for a family (2 adults, 3 kids) with the residents card is €10.
I vaguely recall the opening of the Heritage Park back in 1987. It was a huge occasion for Wexford and the children from Barntown School formed a guard of honour along the road up to the entrance!
Rosslare Harbour. It’s easy spend a couple of hours here you know.
Wander through Kirwans Garden, known locally as the Secret Garden and uncover the myriad of secrets within. With ample seating, fairy doors galore, even a Hobbit House with a free library, there is a wealth of adventure & memory making.
Take a walk to the bank and wander the coastal path, the scenery is breathtaking. Stop at the playground for the small people, savour the view then continue along the foot way that is literally a corner of Ireland.
Don’t forget- as you make your way back, ice cream is essential! As is watching ships arriving to our fair Isle and waving at the man in the tower who’s guiding them in safely. When you’re 6 & 7, of course he can see you (reader....he can’t 😂)
Enjoying what’s close to home, there’s a lot to be said for it 💛
Who decides what makes something good? Why should we not do something that makes us happy despite imperfections.
I was playing around with paint today. I’m not s good painter but it was so relaxing, so to me it’s good. If something makes you feel good that is enough. *****
I stopped striving for perfection a long time ago, perfection does not bring joy. Perfect imperfection is where it’s at for me & is where it will stay.
Regardless of what you’re doing, whether it’s faffing with paints, baking cakes, knitting, crochet, playing music; if it brings you joy, don’t be worrying about the end result, just delight in the activities that please you. 🖤
