Today I can but a big ol’ ✅ next to Dolly Varden on my fish bucket list. I only managed to snap a few quick pictures with my phone and they don’t come close to capturing the beauty of these fish. I can’t wait until I can put my eyes on another one of these fish, by far the prettiest fish I have managed to land. Couldn’t be happier.
Throwback to days when fish like this were considered average sized, and the numbers returning to the rivers were considerably higher, looking to the future I don’t see the good old days returning but I really love looking back through the archives and replaying each and every one through my mind, I never forget a salmon I’ve caught or even most of the ones I’ve lost, they are the pinnacle of freshwater fishing. 🤙

“Couple risers over by the creamery”.
Naturally, I turn to @the_healing_kiss and ask, “want to walk down and get ice cream?”
In the end, we all won. She got her double scoop, I got my trout fix and this terrestrial sipping brownie got.... well, he got to swim away so I guess he kinda won.

If you’re looking for a book to read, go pick this up! It’s a true story about how in 2009, 20 year old Edwin Rist (who had a fly tying obsession) broke into the Natural History Museum at Tring and stole rare bird specimens so he could make flies!
