Incredible shoot with @iamstelari down in Laguna Niguel. Had a beach themed yoga session in mind and it turned into a full day of getting crushed by waves and working for the shot. What do you think? Do you have a favorite? Do you want to see more of @iamstelari?
Julia Cameron, author of “The Artist’s Way”, calls them Artist Dates. “Making time for yourself, once a week, on your own, to do something 'enchanting'. To play, have fun, or do something that nourishes you.” Today was one of those days. Tickets for the Basquiat exhibition at the new Brant Foundation in the East Village have been sold out for weeks but I had an appointment just down the street and when I went by and saw there was no line, I asked the attendant if there were any no-shows and he let me in. 🙏🏻 Basquiat is one of my two favorite artists. Cy Twombly is the other. Last year at this time there was a huge Twombly exhibit that helped inspire me to paint up a storm. I feel the exact same way today. My heart was racing looking at the work (4 floors of it!!) and I drifted home in a creative cloud. ✨🌈☁️ Thank you to @thebrantfoundation for creating a beautiful, quiet, friendly space and filling it with Basquiat paintings! #thebrantfoundation#basquiat#inspiration#artist#theartistsway#artistdate#art 💗

When I look at this piece I see six months of inconsistent painting and distraction. 〰️ Some days I wish my process was linear and more efficient, but its not.
It’s messy, and layered, and informed by a billion things. But bouncing between mediums is what keeps my creativity feeling fresh.
And while I always say I’m not attached to the outcome, most of the time I look at my work and see time 🕰
Moments layered, one on top of another, where I chose to pick up the brush and continue. To an artist, a body of work is an autobiography of intentional action.
So maybe the key isn’t consistency at all, but continuity.
Whether it takes a few hours, or a few years... you created something that didn’t exist before. And there’s real life magic in that ✨ #watercolor

Good morning #morningpages If the best thing about you is that I get to experience the early morning view and noises then I’m winning. Hopefully some creative inspiration also pops in at some point. #theartistsway#artistsway

Hey! Might as well do a #fridayintroductions since I have this new hair 😅.
I’m Danyelle! Happily married mom of three (two with me, one with Jesus) and I paint sometimes 🎨. I admit I haven’t been painting super often lately... I understand the whole #carveouttimeforart thing but I’m finding that I have so many “blocks” in my creativity that surface with anxiety or spiritual, emotional stress. So I’m working on those! It’s a lovely process and I’m beginning to feel such deep inspiration/new vision 🙌🏻
On a lighter note: Two things I love/hate
1) technology. I’m basically a grandma and enjoy it. I recently had to get a new phone and it took me two full days to figure out how to get back into instagram 😬
2) onions and garlic. Great flavor but those papery skins are so annoying 😖
If you made it this far you’re a champion! What is something you love/ hate?

The Artists Way: Week Eight.
This week has been about visualising and creating your own future and ideal life. It is very clear how the power of imagination and focused creation in your mind manifests into material objects. -
Manifestations happen in the brain, which translate into bodily feelings and once the feelings have truly been felt it is no surprise when the material world/ reality catches up to the imagined reality. -
It really blows my mind how creating this way works so well. Specifically for me, in this week there has been monetary affirmations that have manifested into my real world. Suddenly it became very clear at how simple it is to create money by just feeling that it is already there. I feel so blessed to be going though this journey with you @nas_syd... you are such an incredible light and powerful but intuitive source of knowledge. Your selflessness to learn new ways and skills, your enlightened thoughts and words of wisdom guide us so beautifully and gently to our next spaces of even bigger creations. Thank you 🙏 -
Last week, I spent 7 days grounded from reading- a requirement of the homework in a book called The Artist’s Way.
This meant no reading any books (no Audible either), no blogs or articles, no instagram posts, no horoscopes, nada.
If you’re an avid reader like me, you’re probably wondering why I didn’t throw the book in a fire or skip to the next chapter and pretend that homework never existed. I definitely considered both options, but I love a challenge.
This homework ended up being extremely beneficial.
I realized that the ever-expanding stack of books I haven’t started or finished reading yet is actually occupying a lot of my mental energy. Once the pressure of the “should” was eliminated, because I couldn’t read them even if I wanted to, there was suddenly a vast well of freed energy I could channel into something else.
There was also an element that felt like I was protecting my energy because I wasn’t allowing in external influence. If something peaked my curiosity, I couldn’t google it or read about it. I was forced to rely on my own intuition and insight.
This is especially important when we’re in creation mode and birthing a new project, which I happen to be doing.
This felt important because it occurred to me how often we depend on google or some self declared “expert” for answers rather than seeking council from our inner wisdom first. Maybe that looks like googling the meaning of a dream, or reading a tarot book for the answers to a card we pulled.
What makes those things significant or meaningful is how we relate to them. Every time we look for answers outside of ourselves, we deny the inherent wisdom of our intuition.
This influence from external sources isn’t always happening on a conscious plane. It could be unconscious as well.
Next time you become aware that you’re reaching for answers, go inward first. Tune into your own inner knowing, then reach if the desire is still there, allowing for a collaborative result.
If you’re currently seeking clarity or birthing a new project, try a reading detox and see what emerges. And if you haven’t already, read this book!
I’ve been trying to make more time for solo adventuring - I’m currently reading The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron and she suggests committing to one “artist date” per week, where you set aside time to do something creative or go on an inspiring adventure on your own. I went for a drive with my camera and ended up at a beautiful, abandoned barn with these tracks running across the ground in front of it, through the valley. They resonated with me because they seemed like a little reminder of the work I’ve been doing lately to really find my own path.
How about all of you - have you ever had trouble with your own journey? Compared it to those of others, or just struggled to find the right route? Wouldn’t it be nice if we were all just provided a map? 😂
