There is a story behind everything. But behind all your stories is always your mother's story because hers is where yours begins. ~ Mitch Albom #quote#mondaymotivation

Today, Monday 19th August is World Photography Day.
Today we celebrate the art and the history of photography and photographers all over the world. We share our images today to inspire others to tell their stories and capture moments, moments that will never be repeated, at midnight, the 19th August 2019 is history. It seems like an ordinary day for most of us, take a photo today...then look at it again 2029 - today will look completely different. .
Today I'm posting a photograph of three little girls seeing a film camera for quite possible the first time. Their appetite for learning in any setting or circumstance is just incredible. We can all learn so much from these girls, who will soon be women and hopefully leaders in their communities teaching the next generation. .
I travelled to a remote part of Kenya to meet with the kids of Camp Ohana with my 11 year old daughter. We shared our photography knowledge and life back home with the children. We gave them cameras and showed them how to use them to tell their own stories of friends and home. .
I'd love to take the credit for this photograph, but it wasn't me that took it, it was Rael, this came from Raels camera, this is full frame as he seen it. .
Photography means drawing with light, and just by absolute chance I looked up what Rael's name meant as I was writing this post... I read it and had to pause... . "It is an old hebrew/biblical boy name, meaning "Lord of the light" .
What does it mean to be #StoryBold ?
It means —
>> stepping away from comfort and safety
>> taking a chance on a story idea
>> taking action every single day >> calling yourself a writer, a storyteller, no matter the level of experience >> drawing from deep inside to find source material
>> aligning your vision and message with the readers who most need+want it
>> staying the course and completing the project
>> delivering your story to readers
>> giving your gift to the world
“Tell your story. Shout it. Write it. Whisper it if you have to. BUT TELL IT. Some won’t understand it. Some will outright reject it. But many will thank you for it. And then the most magical thing will happen. One by one, voices will start whispering, ‘Me too.’ And your tribe will gather. And you will never feel alone again.” -L.R. Knost #thankfulformytribe
From the ski lift at Cerro Castor this past July. Did I mention I'm terrified of heights? Starting each day on this lift was a challenge. But I did it. I skiied for the second time in my lif and faced my fear.
I once told someone I try to face at least one small fear everyday. They said it sounds exhausting. I guess it is, but freeing myself from fear make it worth it. What a gift.
And part of facing my fear of heights meant I got to see this view. It still takes my breath away.

I read this quote last week and it left a strong impression on me. It prompted me to think through the people I've known who have passed on, as well as the ancestors I never got the opportunity to know in person, but now know through their stories. What a way to honor them by carrying on the best parts of them. I know I carry on my grandpa's work ethic and do-it-yourself mentality, the love of cooking and sharing food of my appointed grandma Mun and my great-grandma Clara, the deep feelings of gratitude and connection to family like great-grandma June. What are some of the "best parts" of your ancestors you carry on in honor of them?
Tell your story! En in het kader van practice what you preach zul je de komende tijd dus ook meer foto's van mij tegen gaan komen👩🏻
WHO IS THAT!!??? WHY AM I listening, recieving & replying?

This little one, with his grumpy old man face. 🤗 He’s brought together the women in my family.
Wednesday afternoons my sister, mom & I gather. I get to hold my nephew in between laptop time for messaging projects, we put on some Project Runway, and we all lean into the community of our multigenerational sisterhood.
It helps me remember that my purpose extends beyond my business. I’m not just a messenger, I’m also a woman.
What’s your favorite ritual with your family?

Visiting Newfoundland and Labrador would not be complete without visiting its largest seabird colony, the Cape St. Mary’s Ecological Reserve. Tens of thousands of northern gannets can be viewed as close as 10 metres away.
Here’s my top tip for dressing cool as a mom: wear Vans! 👍🏻 so i took Capri back to school shopping and i swear i was focused on her... until i saw these cutest camo pants with the pink ribbon side detail?? I’m the biggest NERD... but they make me so happy! And if you swipe ... you will be able to see how winkled and worn they are already cause i have basically worn them 3 days in a row! (cause camo!) well then i saw these freaking cute Vans which i could order in store and have shipped to my house for free (great sales pitch🙌🏻) so yea... my second top tip is to absolutely embrace what YOU like! And own it... and laugh as your kids poke fun at you for being YOU!! Also... go ahead and have your kiddos take a “first day of school” pic of you too!! Cause your part in their story is a pretty big deal too! (Almost 4 of us wear the same shoe size, so... win, win, win) i added the source in stories as well as more to obsess over #momstyle#Vans#coryapproved#backtoschool#takepictures#tellyourstory#newyear#heidiswapp#beyou
Last night I had a heart to heart talk with someone I truly care about and shared how God met me during a dark moment in my life. I was about 22 years old and engaged. When the subject of God came up, I wanted to raise children to believe there was One...he did not. I was not in church but my basic knowledge due to Catholic CCD classes as a child reminded me that God was still important to me. I began having spiritual attacks and demons would visit me at night. During one encounter, I pleaded for God to show me a sign that He was real. Instantly He sent me a vision of Him on the cross. The Lord Jesus Christ met my eyes and then vanished. Immediately I felt His presence for the first time and knew Jesus was calling me closer. I vowed to follow Him no matter what...
My Pentecostal friend from work started bringing me to his church...in 4 short months I received the Holy Ghost and was Baptized in Jesus' Name...2 years later that Pentecostal boy became my husband...10 years later we have a house and two beautiful boys...12 years later, those first words I uttered to God is still my prayer..."I will follow you no matter what."
People have discounted my story, tried to shame me for telling it or claimed I was blasting others. If people are offended by the story God gave you, it's not for them. So move on. Save your words for that one person who needs your story to continue their own. Because those other people are on the outside staring at the cover, when God created you to be part of the plot. They may try silence your voice, ignore the experience or hush the message...but they can't take away your story. That you own and have the freedom to share with others who may need to hear it in order to continue theirs. #helloawesomemessages
