This authentic, hand-made Gardener tea pot was specially designed for the king’s family in Afghanistan, where people drink a lot of tea in lieu of coffee.⠀
During the 19th century, the best teapots were made in Japan, where they also drink a lot of tea. Gardener was a well known Japanese maker of these tea pots.⠀
The king of Afghanistan wanted to serve tea to his guests and dignitaries in real Japanese tea pots, so he had these hand-made by the Gardener company in Japan and imported them to Afghanistan.⠀
These special Afghanistan imported Gardener tea pots can be distinguished by the brand name Gardener written in Farsi on the bottom.⠀
This teapot has a one-of-a-kind design of grapes and leaves, and is meant to communicate good luck and good feelings to the person drinking the tea.⠀

Today I’m drinking a tea by one of my most favorite Brands, Fortnum and Mason. This is their Queen Ann tea (available through Williams Sonoma here in the US at $18.95 for the 125g caddy). Mr. Fortnum and Mr. Mason founded their company in 1707, and this bicentennial blend of select Assam tippy golden flower orange pekoe and Ceylon flowery broken orange pekoe teas is named after Queen Anne, the sovereign at the time. Some may find this tea a little on the stronger side, there is no bitter aftertaste so need to worry about that ,which you can get with some stronger teas. To me, this is just one of those perfect all day everyday teas. What is there not to like when you’re drinking tea fit for a Queen! Today’s tea cup is designed by W dalton for imperial China (Japan) the pattern is called Seville which is Blue Roses and Gray Scrolls. #fortnumandmason#teacup#teacupcollectors#tea#teatime#teareview#tealover#tealovers#tealoversunite
