Yep... I’m actually sad to say I will be taking a break here for a while as I continue my maternity leave! My little girl is an absolute trooper and sleeps so well (touch wood!) and has allowed me to have lots of time to create, but I’m now taking a break from TpT creating and Mrs Panda for a little while. My TpT store will still be available in the meantime - but I won’t be adding anything new for a while 🌟 I hope everyone has a wonderful term and I will be back in the not too distant future 💖
🌟 Kindergarten Instruction Cards 🌟 help your students to understand the steps involved in their independent task (and save you reminding them every 5 seconds!) using these editable instruction cards. Perfect for visual learners and all of your students as they are still learning to read! These are 50% off for 24 hours and available in my TpT store 💙 #kindergartenteacherproblems#classroommanagement
I find teaching adjectives sooooooo bloomin' FUN!!! We had a blast today in our second adjectives lesson applying our knowledge 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼 I gave each student 3 adjectives reference sheets separated into categories for the backs of their writing books to refer to throughout the year. I did a few explicit examples on the mat of how to locate adjectives in the resource..then we got into the fun! I displayed a picture on the board and they got to fill up 1 sticky note with as many adjectives as they could think of (and find on their reference sheets) then stick it on the board! Kobe Bryant was a BIG HIT! Some of there adjectives blew me away!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 I love my job 🌈😍🌈😍🌈
Used this great resource today from @twinklaustralia to recap yesterday‘s maths lesson. It even had learning intentions and success criteria in it which saved me a lot of time #twinklaustralia

Today I aimed for a slightly more chilled out day... and we all felt better for it! These were our fine motor (with more than a dash of literacy/numeracy) activities this morning:
💫 ‘Tricky’ sight word peg boards
💫 Tracing from @stayclassyclassrooms
💫 Correct number formation with pom poms, giant tweezers from @modernteaching and number boards from @stayclassyclassrooms
💫Playdough and letter formation cards from @stayclassyclassrooms (I just used the 8 sounds we are currently learning)
💫 Handwriting whiteboards from @modernteaching
NT sunsets. No filter 😍 Mother Nature is beautiful!

A major part of my literacy groups is research. Each fortnight every student is expected to either individually or as group present their research to the class. This is a great activity that supports #futurefocusedlearning I try to utilise every part of my room as a learning space for the kids!

Teacher life means staying in to enjoy your latte... and marking your books at the same time 🤷♀️💖 Still better than getting it to go IMO!! ☕️🎵 How’s your half term break going?!

It feels like so long ago now, but in reality it’s been 3 weeks since we’ve been back from pilgrimage.
Got to share my #worldyouthday experience with my staff and got to pray with them!
Rolled out these digit cards (that took me forever to make!) and had kids come up with cards out of packets... so to combat this, I decided to number them all and assign them to a particular student... should be foolproof now! But hey it’s kindy... haha something strange is meant to happen! lol

When you're day was so hectic, you need to stop by the shops for supplies! It was nonstop! Wet weather means the kids alllll day! As much as I love them around...Teachers need a break! So glad to be home with my popcorn and kombucha ❤️
I’m in LOVE 💛 Finally got my lanyard today from @alesia.troian. The wait was worth it! It is stunning! Even the children told me today that they love my new ‘necklace’.

On last week's #cathyandritagolive someone called us their marigolds. I've only just had a chance to look up the reference... and it's one of the loveliest things anyone has ever said to me & now my TOP teacher survival tip! I'm lucky enough to work with heaps of marigolds. It’s a privilege to become a part of the insta marigold community too. 💕I've quoted some of my fave parts from @cultofpedgagogy's blog below- definitely worth a read!
“Among companion plants, the marigold is one of the best: It protects plants from pests & weeds. If you plant a marigold beside almost any vegetable, that vegetable will grow strong & healthy, protected & encouraged by its marigold.
Marigolds exist in our schools as well. If you can find at least one marigold in your school & stay close to them, you will grow. Find more than one & you will positively thrive. Once you’ve identified your marigolds, make an effort to spend time with them. It’s worth the trouble.
While seeking out your marigolds, you’ll need to take note of walnut trees. Successful gardeners avoid planting near walnut trees, which give off a toxic substance that can inhibit growth & ultimately kill nearby plants. A walnut's take on the kids is negative. Their take on the administration is negative. Being around them makes you feel insecure, discouraged, overwhelmed, or embarrassed.
There will be some marigolds who just make you happy – go to them for a mood boost. Some who aren’t terribly good at the teaching part, but love the kids to death – seek them out when you need to be reminded of how much you love them, too. Others will take care of you – encourage you to rest, slack off a little, not beat yourself up. And some who are intensely into the craft, who always have a great strategy on hand and keep up on current research – they can really help you stretch your abilities. Learn who has what marigold qualities & get what you can from each of them.”

Just checked the date on my phone and it’s already been ONE MONTH since I moved here.
Where has the year gone?
How is it already late February?
Am I going to blink and be Thirty? Scary thoughts.
Even scarier is that my ex students will be heading to their first year of university or trades or full time work. Those before them going back for year two. Being a high school teacher is such a privilege - being a part of the big life decisions, such an honour. Where ever you are in the world, whatever you are doing - make sure it is something that challenges you, excites you, stimulates you and (importantly) makes you happy. #beateacher#shamelessplug *have not figured out the wind yet

🌖🌏☄️ FREEDOM X NEGOTIATED TASK ☄️🌏🌖The universe is the limit in the classroom. Engaging students’ interests is an important part of my teaching philosophy. When students are genuinely invested in the task at hand, great things happen. Students confidently negotiate tasks with me and tell me why they’d like to do something and how it aligns with the curriculum... yes, THE CURRICULUM. I am as transparent as possible in the teaching and learning that occurs, so that students can envision a direct line to success. This task wasn’t negotiated, but the end products were. Student work sample.

✨ Be Proud of Yourself ! ✨ Love brightening up the classroom with some colour 🌈🌈
❤️🏠Our second home🏠❤️ ----- I absolutely adore my class. We are not afraid to have a laugh and enjoy our time together. I’m calling it now, I’m going to be the biggest wreck at the end of the year 😂 -N
Whenever my kids ask me, “Why don’t we learn something useful like doing our taxes?” I ask them, “Do you know how to read?” “Yes,” they say. Then I ask, “Do you also know how to add and subtract?” “Yes, Miss.” Then I hand them my W2, my receipts, my 1098-Es, etc etc and a tax form and say, “Great. Do my taxes.” And then they decide they’d rather do math. #taxesarejustreadingdirectionswell#letsbehonest#repost@madeinpoortaste

Hands up if you L❤️VE teaching, “Procedural Texts” .
I am so obsessed with it and I adore how engaged, passionate and super excited my students are learning about it too. So much so, they are writing procedures at home and bringing them to school to share willingly, telling me what they made with mum and dad for dinner last night and what they had to do 🙊
It is such a fun learning area because there is just sooooo much you can do with it. Especially all the cool and practical components you can integrate into a lesson for both reading and writing 😍
On Friday Miss A is bringing the learning to LIFE 👏
I have planned for a practical @youtube tutorial lesson where my terrible twos will be watching a tutorial, writing a procedure to match and then actually following the procedure to make SLIMEEEEE 👻😆 .
Have you taught “procedural texts” before ? What do you do in your classroom to make it super fun and engaging for your kiddies ? 🤩 #happywednesday

So many uses for these letters. You can use them on your bulletin board, you can create inspiring messages for your students, you can use them for phonics activities. The list goes on and on. Best part, they're free! #linkinbio
We LOVE this from our friends at @scholasticbookclubs!: "Kindergarten teacher @adayin5k uses CHICKA CHICKA BOOM BOOM to teach the alphabet in a fun way. She dresses up like a coconut tree and has the students stick letters onto her outfit as she reads aloud and sings." #ScholasticParentsShare 📷: @adayin5k
