When I lived in NYC (where I was perched for a decade before moving back to Bmore) I worked in the fine art world; in art galleries, for a private art dealer + a few other places. For a time I was even a studio manager for a well known sculptor, who happened to love afternoon tea time. It was in his studio, surrounded by plaster casts and charcoal dust and piles and piles of papers that goldenhour would strike and beam through his huge studio windows in Alphabet City.
This is typically when M would stroll into the kitchen and simply ask ‘Tea?’. There were usually only 3 types: Black, Earl Grey and Green. M would always have a splash of milk with his steaming mug (which I adopted as a habit too thanks to him). I remember how this little tradition would mentally wrap me up in a cozy little blanket and give me that last boost of energy for the day.
After my stint working there, my love for tea grew into what it is today: I drink it almost every day. Typically in the afternoon. Don’t know why I got all sentimental thinking about this today, but I thank the beautiful people I’ve worked for who are thoughtful and kind. Who even though they don’t need to, just look up and ask you ‘Tea?’.
Pure and simple tea time moment by the most delicious @wightteaco and shot by the wonderful @kategrewal who is always asking me ‘Tea’? Or ‘Coffee’? Or ‘Matcha Latte’? 😘
