4 days till @thecowtown marathon. .
Easy 60 minutes on the schedule today. It’s actually harder for me to stay consistent with pacing than one would think. Doing well mentally. Getting through the week without overthinking the fact that marathon #7 is around the corner. .
My workout at home was different today: no music, no cues, just quiet. It was intentional. The point was to motivate yourself, rather than waiting on someone else to motivate and get you through the workout. What do you tell yourself when it gets hard? What is the soundtrack running through your mind?
Sometimes, it’s good to just be quiet. To reflect. To allow yourself to FEEL the movements, the push, the victory in doing one more rep than last time. .
What do you tell yourself? What is going through your mind? Is it positive or negative? Would you say the same things to someone else? I’ve learned that if I don’t stay in the Word of God and keep filled with positive, personal development, I won’t hit my goals. I’ve got to stay in it, mentally and spiritually, as well as physically. .
5 days till @thecowtown .
5 miles on the plan. 2 easy, 3 tempo. Both paces were fast and I ended with #negativesplits , probably because I was ready to get home.😂🤣 .
Is it fair to say I’m tired but I’ll kinda miss marathon training?
Came home and did my quick workout to round things out. Today was one of those days where you just get it done. Thank you Lord, it’s only 20 minutes!🙌🏻😉
Getting ready for race day. Practicing a race start off the blocks. Luckily it won’t involve a start like this, more a slow mental process of inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth and focusing inwards to block out everything around me. #ironman#tapertime#racestarts#tearaahicycletrail#pungafronds

I did another RST™️ workout of resistance bands followed by sprints. Because my body is falling apart ( #gettingoldamirite) I did much less in the gym before I got in the pool. This gives me hope for a masters nationals taper bc I WENT A 12.0!! And that was leaving a little late on the interval. Who knew killing yourself in the gym might make it harder to swim afterwards, so it’s easier to swim when you aren’t dead? 🤷🏽♀️ When I got my Trials cut I was training meters so I’m not sure what a 25yd time from then would be. After that I trained yards and I think the best I remember were 11-highs.
I think we'll just leave this one here.
In the lead up to the ultimate Hombre showdown at The Old Ghost Ultra, elderly hombre @benkepes was ditched on his training run by the other hombres.
Distraught and emotional, he went and took out his trauma on the road and stole a @strava crown on a section of the Christchurch Marathon route.
Something tells us that @oskabaynes and @chris_dunell won't like being relegated and some future carnage might ensue... #bangbang#theparkmakeshombres#avonloops#christchurch#tapertime
Food is fuel, but so is coffee. ☕
Today's workout: 1 up > 2 sets 5x200s > 1 down for 3.85 total treadmill miles. Pretty much over the winter weather at this point and itching for warmer, less windy days.
2 weeks out from the Crystal Coast half and I'm happy to be dialing it all back a bit.

Sundays @hyannismarathon went from snow forecast to rain and honestly, I’m so used to rain that it’s just another day to push me to my best (literally would make 7/14 fulls done in some variation of rain😂). I think I actually do best in the rain so let’s see!! I have no expectations for Sunday other than smiling and being proud that I’ve put in such hard work this winter. To answer anyone’s Q of why I’d sign up for a winter full on the cape, the answer was so I would have to put in the work in the winter months to be better and more fit come spring instead of looking back in April thinking I could’ve done better in these crucial weeks. And I think I’ve accomplished that goal. So I’m excited for this tune-up marathon to see how better my running is come @njmarathon. 4 easy miles done today for race week ✔️[Photo from @newportmarathon 10.2017] #marathontraining#winterruns#myrunjourney#19bydec2019#runhappy#tapertime#raceweek
It’s RACE WEEK‼️🎉 and a GOOD DAY to have a GOOD DAY! 5 miles (and coffee, duh) to start what I know is going to be a bomb-diggitay week full of race and vaca prep. Now, go have a good day people!! 😘 #monday
Starting to wind things down in preparation for the Hypothermic Half (in two weeks 😳)!! Just short of 15km today 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Three bridge to bridge loops because I knew it would be nice footing (although got caught up a couple of times in Winterlude crowds) - didn’t look at my watch at all because I wanted to go keep it steady and go on feel - and only stopped once right near the end to get this picture because.... 😍
Even though it’s still in the ‘feels like -20’ territory, that sun sure does make things better ☀️
Peak weak: DONE 💪🏼 went out for 14 miles this morning and I crushed it. Went way better than last weekend and I felt controlled. I got in extra miles and extra rest. Swapped my Saturday long run for today and picked up 9 hours of sleep 🤤 Even went 10 sec faster on my pace than needed ! Now that’s what I call a #SundayRunday
Last long run done before the St George Marathon 🙌🏻🏃🏼♀️💜 10 miles easy paced with 2 miles at marathon goal pace today and now the full on taper begins! I can’t believe race week is next Saturday! .
This will be my 9th StG marathon and my 17th full marathon. I am not an expert by any means, but I’ve ran enough to know what works for my body and what doesn’t. So I’m trying to remember this when I go into the taper craziness and question everything as we runners often do the week or so before the race. I’m going to trust my training and taper right and be ready on race morning.
I know the St George course well and love it.
I’ve ran many PRs on the course and 2 Boston Qualifying Times. It belongs to my slowest marathon in 2010 when I ran after having a 4 month old baby, and my second fastest PR and BQ last year. It was my first marathon ever and we used to live there so I know how much it means to the city and runners that are from there. It is very special to me. I’m so excited to see all of my running friends and experience one of the greatest marathons together this year! Im so excited! #StGeorgeMarathon#LongRun#TaperTime
