Radio silence this week due to being on our first family holiday in 2 years (without any phone reception).
We are staying at a farm house near Stanthorpe with some friends and amongst dealing with the little ones it has been absolutely fantastic. Refreshing not looking at my phone especially the days we don't leave the farmhouse. Feeding the cows, goats, lamas and chickens is great. Exploring the acres of land oh and don't forget the sneaky wineries for the mummas to sneak out. 😁🍷🍾 Wishing everyone the best week xx😘😘
It’s amazing the things you take for granted.
Saturday my family and I went to this wonderful lake and went fishing, we all spent time together laughing and joking and not one of us were on our phones.
For the first time in a long time i laid down on the grass and stared up at the sky, taking in all my surroundings.
In that moment I realised that it was the happiest I’d been in a long time. No social media distractions just quality family time!
* How do I switch off? *⠀
As a social media manager, I spend a lot of time looking at screens, analysing data and consuming content as well as creating it.⠀
It is important to take some time to switch off from technology and give your brain a rest. I do this by cooking meals for my family from scratch. I enjoy finding new things to make and challenging myself. My children eat almost anything which makes it even more rewarding.⠀
I've also taken up reading for fun. I had got into the habit of reading books for work which has been great but statistics and marketing tactics are not relaxing to absorb. At the moment, I'm reading 'Circe' by Madeline Miller. I was listening to Madeline talk about her book and the female protagonist Circe and thought she sounded like a woman I want to know more about. Circe is a character from Greek Mythology, the daughter of the Sun and a water nymph. She's brought up to believe that she is weak, ugly and useless but she discovers that she has a power all of her own.⠀
I'm more than halfway through and really enjoying it, it's great to drift into a world away from parenting and work.⠀
What do you do to switch off?

The average person checks their phone 200 times a day and 1 in 4 spend more time online than they do asleep. Social Media accounts for a lot of this time, and while it can be a great place for inspiration, encouragement and reassurance, like anything else, too much can have a detrimental effect. Particularly on our mental health.
If you find you’re spending too much time online, a digital detox or limiting the amount of screen time you have each day could help. Most phones and devices have apps that will track your screen-time or even place limits on it.
It’s important to have a healthy relationship with your phone and social media to ensure you get the most from them and they have a positive impact on your life.

Getting out in nature, in the fresh air, switching off from phones, laptops and the plethora of other devices we are surgically attached to in this modern age is so important for both mental and physical health.
Get outside, spend a bit of time in the woods or by a river... Maybe go for a hike or a run. If you need an excuse other than all of the above, get a dog!
If you're already on it, you may be taking part in an event such as Endure24 at Bramham Park this weekend. Oh, you are?! Well then, come along to one of my Yoga sessions. Details are on @endure24uk website.
Sunday we visited the Batwa tribe. Until recently they used to live in the National Park alongside the Gorillas and wildlife. They were super excited that we were there and even more excited to see pictures of themselves

Saturday (Uganda time) We finally found the Gorillas! 🦍🦍
Am calling it a night & heading to bed early. My whole body is aching & my mind is scrambled. I’m low on batteries & I really need rest.
It has been such a massive few weeks for us... deciding to move after 7.5 yrs of comfort, finding the right place, juggling an online business AND a traditional day job, 4-day conference in Melbourne & a new house full of unpacked boxes. Amazing... but exhausting ✨
We’ve stripped it back to the bare essentials to get us through... eating foods that nourish, setting boundaries at work & walks with the dog, with fresh air & sunshine to ground us.
Tomorrow is a new day & I’m excited to rise & shine. I just want you to know too, that wearing all those hats & hustling all day is tough... so it’s ok to stop, rest & be kind to yourself. Show up for others once you’ve shown up for yourself. You can’t pour from an empty cup 🔮✨ Xx

Doing it all is one thing. Doing it all while being pecked to death by the ping of your phone is another. I watched a young mother with three young children, a wagon, a basket, and a beach chair making her way back to her SUV this week nearly collapse into the sand, her belongings splayed about her, to get to the ringing phone at the bottom of her bag as if her life depended on it. Why is it we’ve been conditioned to jump when the phone pings? Why is it we treat each text and call as if they are equally important, urgent, and action required? Why is it that when the phone pings and our hands are full or we’re in the middle of something else, we feel the intrinsic pressure to stop what we’re doing to respond? Don’t we deserve better than that? Couldn’t the young woman at the beach have waited until her belongings were stowed in the trunk, her children were safely buckled into their seats, and the air conditioning was on before digging to the bottom of her bag to return the call she missed? It’s as simple as a mental shift-having an internal dialogue to remind yourself you are the boss of the phone. It shouldn’t be the boss of you. Read the book, take the challenge, change your (and your child’s) life. www.TheBigHangUp.com #logoff#switchoff#digitaldetox#parentingkidsandtechnology#bepresent#bepresentinthemoment#mindfulness#mindfullness#bemindful
'Time flies when you're having fun'
'Times is measured by moments'
'The trouble is you think you have time' (Dalai Lama).
'Time has a wonderful way of showing us what really matters'
Time - so much to answer for. I used to think time was a thief as there are never enough hours in the day, or days in the week.
It was definitely time to stop, switch off, turn off the phone, no routines and no alarm clocks. Time to unwind, rest the body and mind, time to sort through thoughts, make plans and dream. A chance to forget about time. The time you spend on holiday matters, holidays are some of the most precious times of all made up of cocktails, the sand, the sun, the sea and spending time with old friends and new friends. If only we could bottle that holiday feeling.
Hope you're having a wonderful start to your week?!

Hello, here I am! 👋🏽 Took a little time out & had a digital detox! Sometimes you just need to switch off for a bit.
I’m back now introducing the new addition to our family! Meet Ziggy Lamshed 💙.
I’m not going to lie, when Cam & the kids decided on getting a dog without my consent I wasn’t too happy! Wasn’t sure how I would be as the only pet I’ve had was a fish 🐟. 24 hours in & I’m in love with the pup!🐶
I spent my day buried in a book yesterday (something I rarely do anymore) and it felt damn good 😎
The @myfavoritemurder podcast ladies Georgians and Karen accompany me to and from work every week making me smile, gasp and laugh loudly - and now here they are with me on the beach. Loving this book already. I’m forever grateful to @misslavelli for making me a murderino 🔪
